I saw Alessandro Cortini supported by Marta Salogni last night.

Beatless, ambient sets.

Around a third of the audience was standing with their eyes closed. One guy at the front was tripping, punching the air.

Good times.
I follow Daniel Avery (who’s done an album with Cortini) and I think he’s doing some gigs with Cortini as well. Sounds great.

Wild boys never hit a note.

A graph line of singing ability v commercial success would be an outlier that would make THAT season against Palace look normal.

a terrible singer

I reckon the drummer's mum could hold a tune better.

....quite like 'Skin Trade' and 'Notorious ' though.

Particularly 'Notorious', that's a banger.

Part of me would love to see him try to sing that live.... It will be hilarious.
I’ve seen them before and, to put it simply, I find them great fun and and it’s a Friday night to boot. Ticket prices have gone up a lot since the last time I saw them…plus there are a number of different packages you can now get.

I agree he doesn’t have the best tone, but SLB learned to control his voice many years ago. Now much, much more rigid on stage, mind. And truly terrible patter between songs.

But what songs!

Incredible to think that a young Brummie band knocked out those bangers, when today’s hits require huge teams of writers and producers.

Actually I’m currently wearing a Duran Duran T-shirt (on the way to Southampton)… under my jumper. 😂😂😂

He's done some great work with the very wonderful Confidence Man also. Speaking of which, did you go and see them in Berlin the other night HT?

I didn’t. I haven't really listened to them much to be fair. Maybe I should change this.

I do love that story Noel Gallagher tells about meeting them in Aus. It’s on YouTube.

You should absolutely change that HT. They are brilliant fun.
The only reason I have not listened to them is I haven't got round to it yet. I’ll report back.

As mentioned, I saw Nubya Garcia last night. I won’t say too much as I do not want to spoil @Is it PotG? ‘s gig in a few weeks. But I will say it was wonderful, you lose all sense of time listening to her. Her band were excellent, as usual I parked myself in front of the drummer, he was fascinating to watch and listen to. I left the venue and bumped into Nubya in a back room kitchen and had a brief chat and a photo; lovely person as well as a superb saxophonist, song writer and entertainer.

Listen to her current album Odyssey.
Thanks, certainly has whetted the appetite and very much looking forward to it. (y)
