In my computer
Yeah even during my disappearance for 4/5 years always checked into nsc , it really is like a a comfortable old slipper always there and reliable

Same, I had a break for a long while too, and even still now I have to turn it off as some of the behaviours are apalling, which I can't help call out, even if I get back handed for it, but thats a small part of NSC. On the whole it is like a comfortable old friend. Mostly in part due to some impressive moderation (in the main silently in the background) which is rare in social media land these days...Interestingly in my mind, I don't include NSC as "social media"....even if it probably is a more nuanced version of it...

If I run this board I would ditch the political threads, as it appears that is where all the issues start off. Of course I might be wrong. But how easy would that be? let the other platforms deal with it.
You would probably loose 75 % of the stress and moderators over night.
I put all the political threads on Ignore. Point-scoring wankfests. Wind-up merchants, trolls, bigots on both left and right. Us and them. Vitriolic pile-ons. Just unnecessarily divisive, and are the one thing I seriously dislike about NSC as they generate so much bad blood for nothing. Nothing. I suspect only a tiny minority has ever changed their position on anything after reading what an opponent has to say. They drive people deeper into their respective ideological bunkers. I have enough stress in my life already. No need to invite more.

But I don’t see how you could ban them as you’ll never agree on what’s political and what isn’t. And threads that start innocently on a neutral topic often crumble into political mudslinging anyway. If people want to behave like this, all I can do is shrug and walk away.

The Ignore function is a godsend. Without it, this place would be a nightmare for me. With it, the forum allows me to customise the space to some degree, and actually enjoy being here. Main interest is obviously Albion and football generally but I also find it a tremendous resource for sharing knowledge on local services, events, tradespeople, restaurants, whatever, as well as being able to commune with others and exchange views in a non-confrontational way eg the delightful Retirement thread.

My gratitude to all who make it a force for good.

I think the ignore function has got much better under the current Labour government

A saw a disturbing comment on an Argus story suggesting NSC should be shut down and making broad, crass ill educated comments about the membership which shocked me. I have mostly never seen (apart from the odd Palace troll) a bad word said about NSC. I have been visiting the site since it pretty much started but only recently joined as a member to start posting. I consider it a safe space for dialogue and conversation between people who don't necessarily agree on a lot of things, be they Albion/football related or beyond in to the sticky realm of politics. I love this site, its my go to first port of call most days. The thing I love most is disagreeing with people and conversely getting disagreed with but on the whole we are able to see each others points even if we have completely opposing views.

I'm happy to fight for NSC if it's threatened because we need it.

I see a lot more intolerance than that. There are some issues I would never express a view on here. Or rather, that I may have commented on in the past but quickly learnt my lesson that some views were not welcome to the groupthinkers. It’s easier just to duck out of the discussion completely.
