Many Americans are cheering all of this simply because it appears to be stopping American money being spent on others. And there nothing Americans hate more than other people being helped with their money.
With all due respect, this an egregious lie. Americans are the most generous people on the planet and will help anyone in their times of need. The problem is that their money is being frittered away, to the point of bankruptcy, to the tune of 37 trillion dollars. A bankrupt America is no good for anyone and it’s time to put the brakes on. I don’t understand how anyone doesn’t comprehend this.

Not on Ukraine it isn't. The US is sending a lot of old munitions to Ukraine, and if it didn't, it would cost the US a lot of money to dispose of them. The US can also receive payment for the aid it sends. And the US economy will benefit from producing weapons to replace those that they send.

You say Americans are generous. So as an American, what do you think of Trump trying to make huge profits from Ukraine's resources, in their time of need?

I’m not aware of the US sending disposable munitions to Ukraine, enlighten me. What repayments are US expecting from the aid it sends, apart from a share in their resources? What huge profit is Trump personally expecting?

When it comes to offering tax-breaks and subsidies to those who are already rich beyond the comprehension of us mere mortals, yes. But when it comes to helping those at the bottom of the pile it likes to turn its nose up and talk about bootstraps.

Sorry, but that is a ridiculous post.

From the outside looking in therr are worse places in the world to be at the bottom of the pile.

Not many in western developed nations though.

Still the billionairres are going to make it all better for them.

1. Of course there are. But from personal experience the likes of Eastern Europeans, Iranians and Palestinians (among others we have been told to demonise) have been far more accomodating and generous - materially and philosophicalliy - than any American i have ever met.

The original statement was that Americans are the most generous people on the planet. I would argue that there are people from incredibly poor nations who will offer far more relative to wealth - or any other metric - to strangers than the Americans will to even their own brothers and sisters if there is the vaguest whiff of socialism in the air. The reluctance to accept Obamacare or the current demolition of Medicaid as an example.

2. I bet that once the version of freedom of speech the likes of Musk and the new iteration of the GOP advocate has been established, it will trickle down in much the same way we were promised that wealth would.

Still waiting on that.

Who are more generous?
Well, in terms of percentage of GDP given in foreign aid, there is Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, Germany, France, Denmark, Holland, the UK, Switzerland, Belgium, Finland, Japan, Ireland, New Zealand, Canada, Austria, Iceland and Italy.

It is surely the best measure of generosity to assess how much someone (or, in this case, some country) gives or what they have. And all the countries above give away more of what they have than the US does.

Go on then, qualify your original post. How are the Americans the most generous people on the planet?
Same way that they are the 'greatest country in the world'.

Brainwashing nonsense that they are fed at school.
