Kingstonian, I was there! AAAAHHHH!!!!
I had to go back to relatives in Worcester Park nearby afterwards on public transport full of locals including Chelsea fans (maybe thats where my hatred of Chelsea began) all laughing at Brighton, Horrible journey.

Must have traveled with you to most away games. Which one did you miss ?

The West Ham match- seem to remember they were all over the Albion that night but somehow we won.
back in those days I seem to recall West Ham away and a special tube direct to Victoria non-stop was laid on afterwards. Happy days

Yes would be the Liverpool FA Cup Replay in 1991 for me. Pushed them all the way and a superb atmosphere that night as well.

As others have said I think the 7-0 Walsall is the Goldstone night game that sticks in my mind.

In a period of 8 weeks we beat Ipswich, West Brom & drew with Derby in the League Cup (all were higher division sides) and also beat York 7-2 and Walsall 7-0. You could sense that something special was happening to our Third Division side.

Of course it was. Don’t know which game I was thinking of, certainly not that one anyway!
Bournemouth at home perhaps? We were 1-3 down and I remember Chapman thumping one in from 25 yards out in front of the north stand. Was a Saturday afternoon though. I remember because I pissed myself at Clapham junction on the way home.

In a pile of football shirts
Can’t think of the last great game under the lights I went to but I do remember my first ever game under the lights. It was against Everton, October 1980, we went in the school minibus (Steyning Grammar School) and stood in the east stand. Everton were in yellow and we lost 1-3.

Just looked up the team, wowser. Moseley, Gregory, Williams, Horton, Foster, Lawrenson, Stevens, Ward, Robinson, Smith, McNab.
Pretty much everyone’s list of the greatest players of that era.

My last game under the lights (and tense as hell, so had an atmosphere you could cur with a knife) , was the third last home game of the season v Barnet in 1997. We needed to keep winning to stand a chance of catching ....blah de blah , you all know the story of course ....
I'm SURE this was a midweek match - Bottom of the football league, we scrapped, and Ian Baird stuck in a goal in front of the Norf Stand to put us 1-0 up. I remember floodlights for the later period of the game, the tense, agonisingly tense ending, in which the ref added decades of time onto the end of the match....the game went on and on , and still he wouldn't blow - until suddenly it was done! 3 points!
This was also the last Goldstone Game I was able to attend - I didnt have a season ticket until the beginning of Withdean in 99, having just been able to wander round from my house nearby and buy tickets on the day, the last two games were "all ticket", and I couldn't get myself organised enough to get them.
So - Albion 1 Barnet 0.

Stand up, if you hate HR!
Oh my god I had hoped that would be also lost in the lost of time. I got fired a few weeks later. Rightly so. I was woken by a very kind police officer round the back of the petrol station near the cuilfail tunnel at 4am. With no shoes on. I was refused entry to Withdean that night. Hours lost of my life. All started with four pints of Stella in the Volunteer at 11am. Dear me.
