I am intrigued by all the Japanese fans, there are just so many every game. So was wondering - are they UK residents / students who go to every game, or are they all tourists with the Amex the next stop after Buckingham Palace and Stonehenge? Are they flying here specially?

And how do they get tickets - can't believe they're all signing up for fan numbers and navigating the ticket exchange - are they getting them off dodgy third parties or has the club set up a ticket service in Japanese - I'm suspecting the latter.....

I really do enjoy them coming along though, something very nice about having them around and being 'their' club.

We first started getting Japanese ‘tourists’ after the famous rugby victory.
I know we put our tickets on the exchange in October when we were both ill, and our ‘neighbour’ said there was a lovely Japanese couple in our place, so they are buy them off of the exchange.

Perhaps they have a buying record from having visited the stadium previously as rugby ‘tourists’.

That did occur to me. I think folks back then were perhaps less inclined to give grief than we remember. Opposition fans may have, perhaps. I was kid back then and folk who looked 'different' were a subject of fascination more than anything. If he'd have met me the poor bloke would never have come back again, being bombarded with so many questions. A bit like the poor visiting preachers who came for dinner at the family home. I was sent out with them to show them round town. They used to buy me an ice cream at every stall to try and shut me up.

Always one, or perhaps more in this case. I don't understand the 'tourist' thing. Especially as the same folk would likely post pictures of themselves at the side of a foreign field somewhere if they had the opportunity. It's lovely to see happy folk from others shores enjoying the football here.

The irony is that Charlie is more of a fan than many. Pretty sure 74/75 was an awful season.

Japanese visitors are the best of all the overseas visitors to the Amex - so polite and respectful and chuffed to bits to be there - and invariably spend a fortune in the club shop too

Charlie needs to be there when Karou signs his next five year contract with us!
