That wasn’t an evening game.
It was a 1-1 draw.May 1972. Over 34000 when we beat Rochdale 1-0 to get promoted. Templeman scored?
Queued for well over an hour in Goldstone Lane against the brick wall.
No, for others clearly not the last, but I don't appear to have total recall of all the Brighton games I have ever been too, unlike many here. I do though CLEARLY remember being in my favourite spot at the back of the East terrace, nearly in line with the halfway line, standing on the bottom rail of the support barrier, for a better view. Also I don't think you can call it the 'last' great night which was the OP's question. In fact it definitely wasn't as the Sheff Wed game at the end of the season (where we clinched promotion) was great.
I'd probably go with the Liverpool game, but, and this is O/T, if the question was 'Greatest night at the Goldstone' that could be interesting. (I'd probably go for the Derby league cup tie)

Missed the game as I was on holiday in Cornwall. Heard the result on the radio and indulged in a few bevvies to celebrate Spider 3 and Wardy 4.Probably not the “greatest”, but the 7-0 tonking of Walsall in October ‘76 lives on in my mind. Literally a game of two halves and 2 Albion greats.
oh! and it spurned an NSC user name, to boot…
11 v 11 says this was a Weds night in 1991. Remember it too - I only missed one game all season. One that sticks out for me was West Ham at home one evening all my mates bailed so I went by myself thinking this is going to be a shit night. What a game West Sham everywhere packed Goldstone and we won. Around 88 If I remember.
Hmm. Fair play to your memory. I just remember it was dark. And im not betting my life on that. There's been 500 or so games in between!
It was a 3pm Saturday kick off in April so wouldn't have been dark.Hmm. Fair play to your memory. I just remember it was dark. And im not betting my life on that. There's been 500 or so games in between!

Thank you. I knew it was a 1-1 draw yet for some reason I claimed a win! TTBH I don’t remember much about the match but the young timbha remembers the queuing, the queue at the Chicken Run coffee hut, and fans standing on the rail at the back of the terracing. I stood down the front. My dad was about 20 steps (and a few thousand fans) back.It was a 1-1 draw.
We went up and Rochdale stayed up. Both teams needed a point.
I was there, and yes, it was a hell of a crowd. I was living in Bournemouth at the time and had a very happy journey driving home.![]()
I don't think we were brilliant at counting in those daysIt also says an attendance of 11k that can’t be right
Remember there being a rumble of laughter whenever the crowd was announcedI don't think we were brilliant at counting in those days
When you got a capacity crowd like Arsenal or Bristol Rovers in 87-88 you couldn't really fudge it but otherwise there were lots of games where I reckon we undercooked it a bit. No evidence but something our group used to talk about a lot.
I took a photo of my late Dad with the floodlights in the background as we left the ground thinking that both the floodlights and my Dad wouldn’t be around much longer…..The last game under lights was Barnet. A 1-0 victory with Baird chesting the ball home after a Stuart Storer centre.
It was a great atmosphere. The Barnet coach likened the noise to Anfield and Old Trafford.
It was a bit of a scrum outside the West turnstiles, but a very good natured atmosphere.Thank you. I knew it was a 1-1 draw yet for some reason I claimed a win! Pretty sure that was Saturday afternoon, cause I drove back to Camden and then went out.
Yes - seems as though it was a Saturday. Was not midweek
Yes - that is the night for me. My brother had been working in Saudi and I had been sending him Air Mail letters telling him how great Ward and `Mellor were. At the game, his first in a long time, he was less than impressed until......Probably not the “greatest”, but the 7-0 tonking of Walsall in October ‘76 lives on in my mind.
