[Albion] The last “Great” night at the Goldstone?

Currently embarking on a writing project, putting my Albion journey on paper, and have made it to the Liverpool cup ties in 90/91.

Would the replay on the Wednesday, despite being a 3-2 loss AET, be many fans last really great night under lights?

Bryan Wade vs Newcastle perhaps?

The Hereford Firework night?

The last game under lights vs Wigan was both special and emotional, but if it hadn’t been for the ‘asset strip’, would it have been great?

Any others spring to mind?

Great game, I also enjoyed the 4-0 demolition of Portsmouth later in the same season, also an evening game.

@Lenny Rider - thought draw with Matthew Edwards scoring against Man Utd was good, and of course Beckham came on, although it was a case of…who??!

Also I don't think you can call it the 'last' great night which was the OP's question. In fact it definitely wasn't as the Sheff Wed game at the end of the season (where we clinched promotion) was great.

I'd probably go with the Liverpool game, but, and this is O/T, if the question was 'Greatest night at the Goldstone' that could be interesting. (I'd probably go for the Derby league cup tie)

That explains your threads on Greatest ever foreign signing, possibly Greyhound Stadium, but not sure how you are going to weave Lucy Letby into your book 😉

The last game under lights was Barnet. A 1-0 victory with Baird chesting the ball home after a Stuart Storer centre.

It was a great atmosphere. The Barnet coach likened the noise to Anfield and Old Trafford.

The Liverpool one is a good shout. But maybe being a ten year old at the time in awe of us holding our own against Liverpool over those two FA Cup games has elevated it in my memory.

Yes, I went to the first game which was brilliant and immediately after we scored early in the reply I thought shit we have scored too early
