Williams will "launch" their 2025 car on Feb 14th, in a special one-off livery for Valentine's Day. That's me hoping the car is a flop, then.

I bet Lando was chuffed, I am struggling to think that he was driving the car though

Mercedes will reveal their 2025 car online on 24th Feb, followed by an on-track shakedown on the 25th Feb at Bahrain ahead of the official testing beginning Feb 26th. This deviates from Mercedes tradition from recent years of revealing the car and shaking down at Silverstone. Possibly an indication that they are running it to the wire in terms of finalising the car ahead of testing?

They are just the third team to officially announce when they will reveal their car, which is unusual as we head into the last few days of January. We'd normally know pretty much all of those dates by now; in 2024 the first full launch was Feb 5th and they were all done by the 15th. I suspect the official F1 launch event on the 18th Feb has maybe introduced an element that some teams are still considering whether they launch their car before that (like Williams will) or after (Ferrari and Mercedes). I expect to see a flurry of announcements next week with dates in the 2 week window 13th to 25th Feb, and at least one reveal happening on the first day of testing on the 26th.

Anyone watched the Brawn GP documentary series on iPlayer?

Watching the second episode and my goodness Horner and Montezemolo coming across as absolute arrogant pricks

Current car launch dates:

Williams: February 14
Sauber/Audi: February 18*
Alpine: February 18*
Racing Bulls: February 17
Haas: February 16
Aston Martin: February 18* / February 23 full car
Ferrari: February 19
McLaren: February 18*
Mercedes: February 24 (online) / February 25 (on track shakedown)
Red Bull: February 18*

* Livery reveal at the FIA 2025 Season Launch event. Suspect all those starred won't actually show a 2025 car until testing.

I believe the above is correct currently (although I need to do some double checking later).

And yes, it turns out that the FIA Launch event may have had quite an impact on teams' plans for launching their cars. Will be interesting to see if the Launch event is ultimately deemed a success (pulls focus around a single event and generates interest) or a failure (focus on a single event produces a short-term big-bang but otherwise reduces overall impact due to everything being around a single date).

Long day at the office yesterday, so I'm a little late updating.

McLaren have kicked off the 2025 season with a surprise reveal of their 2025 car in a special papaya camo livery yesterday. Looks like some key components of the car are still 2024 parts (eg front wing), but there's some definite changes to the shaping of the sidepod visible.

Today, is Williams' turn. They've unveiled a pre-season-only livery on an old car so far (incorporating new title sponsor Atlassian), but they'll have their 2025 car on track later so we should get some photos of that.

FFS. Spa is one of the only really decent circuits left. It probably signed its own death warrant with that rained off weekend but often the weather there contributes to the fun and games. Saudi? M’eh. Rwanda? Really?

Grrrr.
Didn't know there was even a race track in Rwanda ....
If they were so set on returning F1 to the African continent, Kyalami in Jo'burg would surely have been a more sensible option?

Except the current controversial and unpopular dictator of FIA has spoken

"Africa deserves a F1 event and Rwanda is the best place," FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem told BBC Sport Africa.

Almost like the Rwandan government is desperate to promote itself at any cost.

My son asked to go to the F1 Exhibition at the Excel in London for his birthday. So we did exactly that yesterday (along with one of his friends). That was 2 hours (+90 minutes drive each way) very well spent. Could easily have spent a further hour or so, but with 2 not-yet-teenage boys along I couldn't spend too long just standing around reading stuff.

Very well setup though, I thought. Plenty to just "look" at for the kids. And a lot of the written information was duplicated in short videos on auto-repeat that you could listen in on using headsets provided on entry.

This week we have the F1-75 official launch. That takes place tomorrow, February 18th, and we'll have the full livery reveals for all of the teams. Some of those will be on old cars, others may be on new cars (looking at you McLaren, Williams, Haas, and maybe Racing Bulls). Jack Whitehall is the host ... so we could be in for some awkward "comedy" moments strewn through the event.

Speaking of ... Haas shook down their new car yesterday. No official photos released that I've seen as yet, but there were some photographers at the circuit and photos are available. In particular, there's one where it looks like a bit of bodywork wasn't properly attached and came off during a run...

I had no desire at all to go to the O2 tonight when tickets went on sale. Expensive as well. My intuition was right, glad I didn't bother - I reckon this was aimed at the DTS-type crowd.

Decent enough to watch on TV though, pleasant two hours aside from Brian Tyler DJing before the Alpine reveal.... That was... something.

My boy and I watched up until just after the Sauber was revealed while putting him to bed. Will watch the rest back on replay at some point today. As you say, doesn't look like it was an event worth spending lots of dosh on.

Looks like they all used old cars for their presentations as well, just with the new liveries on. Some of the teams pushed out studio photos of their actual 2025 cars immediately after their reveal on the show. For those, it's interesting to see that both VCARB and Williams look to have heavily copied the Red Bull sidepods from last season, with the over-bite upper surface and very narrow letter-box style opening. Aston Martin have gone for the older Red Bull-style under-bite with narrow letter-box inlet. Haas, on the other hand, appear to have retained a more traditional sidepod inlet arrangement. McLaren have gone for something closer to what Mercedes used last year, as have Ferrari, with high and narrow inlets that also run down the side of the nose in an upside-down "L" arrangement.

So nothing much of interest in the show itself beyond whether anyone went left-field with their livery. Which I think was only VCARB with their mostly white livery.

McLaren - almost identical to last season
Ferrari - red as always, although looks a different shade of red and has the white added so the blue HP logo can stand out. Not convinced they've done the best job they could have
Red Bull - they never change...
Mercedes - variation on the same theme from previous years
Aston Martin - variation on the same theme from previous years
Alpine - same colours, but they have mixed it up. More colour on the car than last year
Haas - Same colours, variation on themes they've used for a while
VCARB - they've dropped most of the blue, leaving a mostly white livery
Williams - variation on last year's theme
Sauber / Audi - same colours as last year, but they've changed up the design

Overalll ... despite the lack of significant change on most of the cars, I actually feel this is a better livery line up than 2024. The variations help, especially as (from what I can see) they've mostly chosen to put colour back on the cars and have less bare carbon. Suggests the teams have got on top of the car weight and can now afford a few grams of paint more than previous seasons.
