OB don’t bother turning up for anything under £150 and even then they know it’s a waste time .
Good to know. I’ll go and lift 149 items from Poundland tomorrow.

I remember hearing about a court case where a scrote (probably from Worthing) was accused of stealing two frozen chickens, value £9.98. When asked to plead he said "Not Guilty". Asked the basis of his defence he said "They was only £4.99 and they were on a buy-one-get-one-free".

That's Worthing (probably) for you...

FFS having lived through 1970's Whitehawk, Moulsecoomb, Fishersgate, Mile Oak, Coldean, Portslade etc etc, as an (almost) pensioner these days, I'll take my chances in all of those areas, and Sussex generally without screaming for a policeman.

Bloody snowflakes :lolol:
You could scream for a policeman as much as you like in Worthing and nothing will happen. Can't remember the last time I saw a copper on foot in Worthing town centre. Even the PCSOs are now driving around playing Starsky & Hutch.

Retailers really aren't that bothered or they would hire multiple big, burly security cards. They just assess the losses and put the prices up.

My mates doris used to work in the Worthing Poundland store. The thieving there was so prolific they pretty much gave up on trying to stop it.
How much were the items in there ?

To be fair the most recent time I witnessed shoplifting was indeed in Worthing.

We were queuing in Greggs, when a chap dressed all in black with a snood over his face (like a Palace ultra) walked into the shop, went up to the hot food display (the one that houses the little boxes of potato wedges and chicken wings), grabbed the remaining 6 or 7 items, and walked straight out.

The young girl behind the counter didn't even blink. Just carried on serving us, and pretended she hadn't noticed.

To be honest, he was so brazen and confident, that he was out the door before we'd even realised what he was up to.

(But no, I'm too old to be fighting a skaghead over a couple of boxes of lukewarm Greggs potato wedges).

I was in that there London a couple of weeks ago and popped into a Sainos local for some train cakes. At the door there was a kerfuffle between a scrote who was trying to borrow 10 cans of Stella and a security guard who was massive (6'6" and wide as a house).
All the security guard did was take the beer off him and tell him to leave.
I have no doubt that the scrote would have gone to another store and helped himself.
Years ago (moany old git alert !), a security guard would have held onto him until OB turned up, possibly giving him a right-hander if deserved. These days, there's no chance the police will show up and the scrotes know it; they can thieve with virtual impunity.

Actually, I think you've picked me up on a boob there. She worked at PoundSTRETCHER, not Poundland.

Poundstretcher price their assorted junk and tat with all different prices, not just a quid.

Anyone think the Saudi deterrent might work here?

Could issue door staff with a machete and if someone got caught shop lifting then could lop off a hand.

Theiving scrots would only do it twice ...
