From Ferguson’s post match comments in the Argus today I suggest that he has given up on us!

Ferguson said: “I feel all right, to be fair. I think it’s good that I’m in a new place, a new environment and sort of having that fresh start
That was quite a thin skinned post.

Players on loan always say something nice about the club that are at in a post match interview. It's not like he's slagging off the Albion.

And I would challenge the 20 year old version of you, to play top level sport for half an hour, have a mic thrust in front of you and pick out the diplomatically perfect set of words which couldn't be taken badly by fans of either club.

Evan is coming back. He has a long contract. Only if we get a stupid offer is he going. And then we have a load of money

We’ll see. I don’t doubt we’ll get a shitload of money for him if he does well at WHU. My gut feeling is that he is no longer happy here, we don’t keep unhappy players.

doesn't help that the club line was he's injured then he gets time at west ham in his first week ...wtf....hope he comes back.

Bear in mind he also played for us just before he left. That said, I had an interesting conversation about this with someone who (allegedly) knows one of the medical team and there's a disconnect on his fitness. He thinks he's fully fit and ready to start matches, the data and medical team disagreed.

Again, take this with more than a dump truck load of salt. It's highly likely that it's totally guff.

So can we read this as we’ve given up on Ferguson or FH doesn’t rate him playing in his system?
Just a hunch but I’d be surprised if we keep Pedro this summer.

Also, Welbz can’t be that far from retirement or droppping to a lower level. You also have the potential for a long term injury that can never be ruled out with him. He is still getting through an astonishing amount of running each game, that must take it’s toll at his age.

Roll on a year or two and I think our strike force could be Fergie, Tzimas and Georgi.

Given that our model tends to need a sale in the summer this would be my hunch also.

Also, I’m not sure he’ll be in the mood for signing any contract extension whilst Welbz and Georgi are ahead of him in the pecking order. For a striker that is a level or two above any striker at Man Utd (for example) and has a huge value, he may well be thinking about next steps.

I think we will lose two of João Pedro, Baleba and Mitoma. Which ones go depend on the bids that come in, but all have been here a couple of seasons, have high value and could play at the highest level.

With João Pedro there are other players in the same range who do what he does. Would a big club go for JP if Cunha is available for instance?

And he isn't starting at the moment. Which won't help any negotiations.

I was going to start a (slightly depressing) thread on which of the big names are likely to depart this summer.

There are two obvious ones...

- Mitoma - he'll be 28 and down to two years on his contract. For both club and player, it will be the "sweet spot" to move on. The club still receives a decent fee, and Mitoma geta to move at his prime, giving him the chance of a "big club" and Champions League football.

- Baleba - his stock is so high because he's so bloody good, there are sure to be big money offers for him, and they may just be too good to turn down.

Joao Pedro is an interesting one, as it's not been the season he would have wanted nor expected. After a bright start, with four goals in our opening six fixtures, he's now on a run of one goal in 14. Although many of those 14 have off the bench, I don't think it's unfair to say his form has not been good for a while now.

He is, however, in a position where we have depth and of any of the three I've mentioned, probably the easiest one to lose.

We were open to a sale in January, highly likely Ferguson will be off in the Summer.
Yes. but presumably depends on a whole bunch of things we don't know about yet, other sales, squad building, how he does for the remainder of the season, injuries and how the rest of our season turns out . Europe or conversely a change of manager (its also possible, if unlikely) would change things a lot. So i'd say not "highly likely" but possible.

Welbeck is one of the fittest players at the club. Not his injury record, granted, but his overall strength, stamina etc.
