Naylor has written a deep-dive into the Tzimas signing. A few highlights:

  • "Brighton’s data-led recruitment model identified Tzimas as one to watch when he was making waves at PAOK, progressing through their youth ranks from the age of seven until he made the first team at 17"
  • "[T]echnical director David Weir and his assistant Mike Cave were heavily involved in making sure Tzimas saw Brighton as his No 1 choice. [...] [Nurnberg's now former sporting director Olaf] Rebbe says: 'If we had left it open until the summer, maybe we could have earned a few more euros somewhere, somehow, but it would have turned crazy. There was so much pressure from clubs. Serie A clubs wanted to take him directly in the winter, with serious interest from the Premier League. Stefanos had his heart set on Brighton. It was a very good and honest negotiation. We had many offers on the table for the player, but he flew over, saw everything and was convinced by the football project, where he can develop. When he came back, he showed me the pictures: the training ground, the people. He was very proud. He is really peaceful now, not jumping around with offers and possibilities'"

I really believe that. He is very hard working and down to earth. I was watching an interview in greek a few weeks after he started in Nürnberg. How in the first 2-3 games he tried to impress, was over enthusiastic and a bit reckless, he even got a red card early on.
Then he sat down with Klose and he asked him how he can improve apart from the training, mentally, physically etc. He changed his diet, lifestyle, first to come and last to leave the training and they always discuss about how he can improve as a striker based on Klose's vast experience.
Brighton fullfils many of the things he is looking for. Staying the extra half season with Klose, first team football, an environment he can further develop.
Looking forward to next year and since I come often to the UK, I hope I can combine and watch a game live.

Hard not to be excited by this one. I suppose we should just remind ourselves that Ferguson’s stats would have been off the scales at 18.

I randomly watched a dvd of the 2002 world cup a few nights ago. It's the one where Klose made a name for himself. He scored loads of near identical goals. A little bit of movement , arrives between the posts as the cross comes in, meets it with a header that's clean, true and downwards.

I couldn't help but think, we could do with Tzimas drinking in as much of that as possible in the time they are together

I remember 2002 it was his first WC, he played in 4 WCs and ended up being top goalscorer in WC history.
It is not just 2002, here are all his WC goals :

But even the League goals were similar. No beautiful strikes, bicycle kicks and fancy stuff. He had great positioning, scored headers agaisnt taller opponents. He never overthought stuff, striked immediately.

They won 2-0 today (in a rather boring game with not many attacks). Since signing to Brighton he has played two games.
He didn't score but he had 1-2 good moves and some passes that could have easily been assists if his teamates were a bit more careful.
I have the feeling that he is a bit more cautious, in duels and risky situations. I don't know if it is just common sense or a verbal agreement.

6 points between Nürnberg in 9th and Köln in the top spot at the moment. The gap between 1st and 9th in the Championship is 25 points for reference.

Hopefully he can help them get back up before coming here and hitting the ground running. Love that he is working with Klose on a daily basis, he knows a thing or two about finishing.

Bundesliga 2 is one of the most competitive Leagues.

1st to 6th position : 3 pts difference
9th to 2nd : 5 pts difference

Anything is possible until the last matchday.

So can we read this as we’ve given up on Ferguson or FH doesn’t rate him playing in his system?
From Ferguson’s post match comments in the Argus today I suggest that he has given up on us!
