I can't be arsed to google it but I'd be amazed if this line of research hadn't been pursued fifty or more years ago as it so fundamental to life in industrial society. In fact it must have been as 70s schoolchildren knew about it. Anyway, I'll leave it there. Off down the pub now!Maybe, but I didn't know. You're probably right. To be honest, the only reason ANY of us would've known about it is because of the odd 'birthday cake candles' angle, so it doesn't really matter! Plus the papers are full of examples over the years of the same sort of story being run over and over again. Private Eye often highlights the worst offenders.
