The last Sparks album I bought was A Steady Drip Drip on rather spectacular multi coloured vinyl. I havnt got round to listening to the last release but this has reminded me to do so. Live wise I have never seen them.
In other news, The Pains Of Being Pure at Heart are playing at Concorde 2 in November

January always a quiet month but back to live music soon. Saw more gigs last year than at any other time and unusually the best were in the larger venues. The Smile, Nick Cave, Fontaines DC and Idles all being highlights. Seapower at Lewes and the following day in Brighton were also up there as great performances. Bands to watch out for- Dog Race, Adult DVD and Man/Woman/Chainsaw
Tickets already secured for 2025-
WH Lung
Murder Capital
Personal Trainer
Pom Poko
The Loft
Seapower
Snapped Ankles
Mcclusky
Oh Sees

Hope to add Squid and Melin Melvyn to the list.
Already down for Squid and Murder Capital!

Still in Brighton
Thoroughly enjoyed the run through of David Crosby's little gem of an album "If Only I Could Remember My Name" at the Dome, Sunday night. Nabbed a cheap ticket last minute due to showfilmfirst. Very low crowd numbers sadly (I mean the album isn't well known) and missing big name contributors but particularly enjoyed Liam from Hothouse Flowers and Ed Harcourt and the excellent guitarist from The Pretenders. Atmosphere wasn't great and quite a few early leavers around me but their loss. Lovely renditions of Guinevere and Almost Cut My Hair in the second half.

I went to this, exactly like you re: Show Film First and couldn't have put it any better than your post...

Just add that Kris Drever was great but having seen his solo concerts that was no surprise

Well Beautiful Days has absolutely knocked it out of the park with this year's line up.
Frank Turner & The Sex Pistols joining the Levellers in headlining, chuck in Spirtualized, John Grant, Terrovision, Shed Seven, Sleeper, Therapy?, The Meffs, Panic Shack, Seth Lakeman, Mercury Rev, Kid Kapichi and loads of others, loving this year's lineup

Saw local heroes Frankie Stew and Harvey Gunn play to a basically sold out Camden Roundhouse last night. Was great to see, they were proper chuffed. Next up Talib Kweli at Arch but also considering Dargz at Alphabet.

Kamasi Washington, Greentea Peng and Panda Bear all in the pipeline with TGE in May also. Decent.

Graham Nash is touring this year. We have tickets for his Hastings show in October.

Also coming to eastbourne Congress theatre in October — Rick Wakeman! Am thinking about it.

Just bought tickets for the following evening :rave:

Me and the boy too. Sadly we’re up in the Gods as I forgot and the boy slept in as his school is closed today.

We’ve also secured Black County New Road this morning.

The boy’s 15 and has done all his money recently on Squid, Inhaler, Kneecap, Fontaines and all three days of Victorious. Sadly I can see his season ticket going West within a season or two.

We're in the front standing stalls. It was surprisingly easy to buy at 9 with no queue, unlike the Lana Del Rey fraught process back in January "You are 10,068 in the queue".

Now waiting for The Cure to announce a tour.

Got a few coming up in The Murder Capital at CHALK, Spirit of the Beehive at Green Door Store, DEHD at Patterns, Father John Misty at Brighton Dome, PUP at Kentish Forum in London, Wunderhorse and Shame at Ally Pally, MJ Lenderman the following night down at CHALK, Outbreak Festival in June, Glastonbury again, and then Fontaines in July in Finsbury Park. Got a couple in the pipeline if the football fixtures fall correctly, probably do Squid in a few weeks depending on tomorrow's result, and possibly Queens of the Stone Age at Victorious.
