This may or may not be not be an interesting thread….
I was on a little wormhole this morning after reading about the latest RIBA winner (A Japanese firm).
When reading about one of their buildings in Lens I was surprised to learn the city has a population of 32k. Surely the teams ground is bigger, I thought? And it is, approx 38k.
Now, I know different countries metropolitan areas are made up differently and I also realise that every club has different catchment areas, but I still found that surprising, especially given their history- mostly a top tier side and have had decent forays in Europe.
Anyone else with more of these? Ever been somewhere where the football ground looms over the town and you’ve wondered where all the people must come from?
