Impossible ! Who has ONE ? During lockdown I listed 40, and even that was with just one track per band.
Neither of the two posted songs were number one's so not a good start to the thread
The Desert Islands Discs 8 would be a nightmare. I’ve pencilled in an 8 before, but 12 or 20 or 50 eases the angst.

Today it’s this song, but ask me again tomorrow and it could be something completely different. This song has been there or thereabouts for decades.

I rather suspect that many of the selections that folk make for a thread like this will be more lead by emotions than a feeling of what would constitute the best number one. I think in reality there cannot be a 'best' because the music covers so many genres. That said, I'm enjoying the selections, whatever the reasons for them.
