I'm not convinced that starting with Gomez or O'Riley is any less risky. Georginio has far more game time and is certainly a player in form.
But how will he fair in a more defensive midfield role? I consider him more of a striker or attacking midfielder so we may see a different side of him today. I hope he does well.

Looks a bit Route1 …. That might not be such a bad thing because we have been woefully slow moving the ball through midfield. If Rutter has the discipline to sit a bit deeper then we could be quicker whichever way we play up the pitch.

Bournemouth were forced by injuries to play people out of position against Forest and it worked okay for them. Let's hope the same applies today.

I think that front 5 all deserve to start. So I’m comfortable with that.

O’Riley and Gomez as more defensive options as the game progresses makes sense to me.

A fair point and we will find out soon enough but pretty damning for both players that with all those you have listed missing the manager would rather play someone out of position there.

Good to see Minteh starting. Should see some great attacking down the left with Lamptey and Mitoma but defensively, not so much.

Just turned on TNT Sports and they were busy previewing Man City vs Real Madrid, guess that’s going off until kick off then

Correct. If the starting 2 in midfield had been Hinsh and Gomez/O'Riley most would likely think its maybe not our first choice but our hand has been forced. But Gomez hasn't played any meaningful minutes, and O'Riley is similar to Rutter but has been less effective so far. So really, with what we've got today, Hinsh and Rutter probably are the 2 players he's trusts the most for centre mid.

All about what the players have been told to do tactically. If we bomb forward and leave Hinsh as the only cover for the defence then we're done for. But if those 'attacking' players have been told to sit deeper than normal and pick their moments for counter attacking, then absolutely no issues with that 11.
