There’s a few of us on this board who are interested in Aviation, should i start another thread specifically to discuss the actual Aircraft crash itself away from this one which is turning in to another Frump thread?
The majority of the comments involving him are about what he's said/posted about the crash, no? So completely relevant to the conversation/thread...

I’d suggest that perhaps i’m not time rich like you who clearly spends time skimming the internet and social media forums, i was interested in this topic on THIS forum but it’s now yet another Frump thread
Interestingly, whenever I want to know the inside track on a Saudi bid for Mitoma or Hurzeler's tactics for Forest, the first place I go is pprune.

And interestingly when i want the inside track on Cockapoos, Indian Restaurants, or where i get my posh middle aged shop from I head to a Brighton fans football forum.

I’m not sure what your point is but ask yourself whether you might be in fact playing the player here and as a moderator why bother shit stirring almost 24 hours after i posted? Well?

Still in Brighton
Appreciate that some online are saying the chopper pilot was mistakenly watching the plane behind in the Q (for landing) and was also too high...but it still seems bizarre they can't see each other's lights.

Almost exactly 24 hours prior to the crash another helicopter forced a plane to go around at the same location when they received a collision avoidance alert. Pure uneducated guesswork but my instinct is the military were getting more and more lax and risky probably due to the amount of times they had done the manoeuvre and finally they got too close.

seen couple of comments around this, say that lights get lost in the city. it seems quite plausible a pilot doesnt see a near static light (coming to wards them) while attention drawn to others further away.

from my armchair the obvious risk is the route they take, which could be mitigated by sticking to a corridor tight long west bank of the river below 200 ft. or a protocol to just fking stop, something choppers can do, rather than say "we'll track visually now".

PPRUNE is the site for you. And you might just get celebrity pilot Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson chipping in as he's a fairly regular poster.

My brother-in-law was on SKY News about 11.10 this morning talking about the crash, and the factors involved with night flying, as an ex RAF Chinook Sqdn Leader. Very interesting what he was saying if anyone can find it online.
I love Chinooks me. He's a spawny git.

They are mighty impressive. We had a look up the first few feet of the ramp when my mate passed out at Odiham many years back. He went on to be a pilot in the Chinooks based at Odiham and Benson.

He's now Chinook Flight Commander responsible direct to HQ JHC for independent Test and Evaluation of all Chinook operational upgrades.
