Inspired by a comment on another thread, it got me thinking how many times I'd been on the pitch at the Albion, and for me it was just the popular 2 - Doncaster and Wigan.

Anyone with more interesting tales to tell than those 2? (*immunity from banning orders cannot be guaranteed, comment at your own risk!)

Notts County - Liam Brady stood on my foot at half-time
York City - The broken goalposts
Mansfield - Broke into the boycotted game and wandered over to the south stand
Doncaster - the sound of the fans dismantling the ground
Lincoln (away) end of season kickabout
Stockport at Withdean - just behind a guy in a mobility scooter if I remember correctly

Against Sunderland in 1978(?) I was 12 and sometimes used to sit on the wall at the bottom of the NE terrace - below the away fans. When Eric Potts scored his second to turn a 0-1 into 2-1 in the dying minutes, I nipped smartly onto the pitch to get away from the mounting fury behind me.

Northumberland
- Stockport at Withdean (Slade survival)
- Huddersfield at Withdean (last game)
- Wigan at the Amex x2 (once after the game, again when promotion was mathematically confirmed)

Quite a number of times. Notably celebrating with the players up at Shrewsbury although they won, we were division champions. Also when Slade kept us up managed to get right by him, that was fun with my 5 year old in my arms. And another memorable one was pretending to score at the North goal at the Goldstone which descended into chaos as Sheffield United also invaded, charges, fighting and police horses, those were the days.

Actually managed to sneak on a few times during the 2014/15 season.

Couple of players noticed me and as i had the kit on passed to me on quite a few occasions. Sadly my lack of fitness and inability to control a football made it obvious I was imposter.

Still the next week I'd turn up with my kit with 19 Best on the back of my shirt and the manager would say "Leon, you're in the squad"

Too many to mention, although I can only recall one away game doing it. That was Shresbury in 2001 in the first of the back to back championship seasons. Port Vale the following year we didn't go on the pitch, although we hadn't had the warmest welcome anyway!
But the port vale game was great and Martin Perry and Dick Knight were up in the stand with us, that was lovely to meet them and thank them.

Mid 70’s many, many times (as a primary school age kid) to pat the Albion players and kick the opposition players in the final whistle melee.

At SJP May 79 to celebrate.

At Withdean …
The Slade staying up game against Stockport.
Dagengham twice in one game LOL with the false alarm. On Youtube you can find the clip where Samrah is frantically saying keep off the pitch.

Amex, against Wigan. A steward tried to stop by son when 1,000’s had just done it, a heave from me put paid to that.

Were there Goldstone pitch invasions for the following?:
May 77 - Sheffield W
May 88 - Bristol Rovers
If there was, I would’ve been part of it.

The Wigan home game.

Swindon play off game. Completely soaked! Ran past Mark Mcghee who was screaming “Get off the f*cking pitch!”

Ipswich home game securing safety from relegation. Ran towards Des Lynam and exchanged a few words (can’t remember what but he was very well spoken. And much taller than i expected).

And got a toe over the barrier for the pitch invasion after the Chesterfield game before a steward pushed me back. I must have been the only one that got stopped that evening!

The Bristol Rovers game was a promotion game wasn't it? I was in the chicken run and ran glady across the pitch. Fun.

Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
I've been on all four Albion ground's pitches, including Gillingham;
Away grounds for various reasons since the 70's in no particular order, usually after a promotion, a demonstration, or last game of the season, include;
Newcastle, Rochdale, Shrewsbury, (Gay Meadow), Walsall, Stoke (current ground), Barnsley, Lincoln, Doncaster Rovers (Belle Vue), Notts County, and Southampton, (Dell).
There may be others I've forgotten.

I have never intentionally been on the pitch. It's wrong.

However, I have found myself on there a few times, purely by accident, when the force of the wind behind me propelled me on to hitherto grass.

One such occasion was Wigan when a strong wind propelled me down the steps of the WSU and to the centre circle. Then later, after promotion was confirmed, from the North Stand concourse.

Other occasions, when similar climatic conditions occurred, were Bristol Rovers (1988) Ipswich (1991) Southend (1992), Doncaster (1997)

As a child, I unintentionally took a wrong turn through an open gate at the Goldstone and went wandering around the pitch. As I came into the North Stand penalty area my leg began to make kicking movements, as if to strike for goal, like Peter Ward.
