So I'm a little skeptical as to whether or not this is real now. I saw it first on reddit (r/soccer) which is usually a decent source, but I'm beginning to think this is just something somebody put together and not anything official.

It's official, some lad from Argentina designed that badge for them.

After a long time and consideration of all options regarding the coat of arms, we decided on the design of our friend from Argentina, Rodrigo Luqe🩵
Thank you very much once again Rodrigo Luque 🩵

If anyone needs a design or help with something, contact Mr. Rodrigo!

It seems that Tony brought back and reinvigorated an old round design including changing the direction of the Seagull "to look forward for the future" coinciding with the opening of The Amex .

They've changed the badge:

Well it looks like Tony missed a trick there when he decided to change the badge, because if he wanted to convey the message of "looking forward to the future" this is the badge he should have gone for.

All Tony did by changing the direction of our Seagull was to convey the message that we were just heading back to where we've spent years coming from, which is the direct opposite of the message he wanted to convey.
