No one ever chases when we lose, but here is the somewhat late update. It's not good news. We are woeful at beating teams like Everton at home. Who knew? :ROFLMAO:

Now 8 over relegation, 2 behind Europe. Not a disaster but frustrating.

Who qualifies for Europe.
We are top of the coefficient table to get the extra spot in the UCL. That would be 5 plus 1 in the Europa and 1 in the Conference.
But wait, it gets better.
FA Cup winners go into the Europa, but if it's a top 5 team then that frees up a 2nd spot in the league. This would be spots 6 & 7 now for the UEL.
League Cup winners go into the Conference, unless they too are in the UCL (3 of the 4 semi finalists are top 4), thus spot 8 could be in the Conference.
It's still all to play for!

So, that's 7

8 in total now then?

So, it could be 9?

I don't know if we want Conference League. Fun for the fans, is it exciting for the players to make them want to come/ stay? Not sure. And it would cripple our league form with all the extra games.

God this is the most entitled I've ever been ss a Brighton fan, shoot me now

Who doesn't want a trip to Shamrock Rovers, The New Saints F.C and Dinamo Minsk? I would LOVE it.

Don't think it will make much difference to the players though and would make it harder to get Europa League the year after, so maybe a net negative in terms of attracting players?
I mean, winning the Conference League would secure us a place in the Europa League the following season, so if anything, it offers a third option for Europa League qualification after an FA Cup triumph and a high enough league finish. English clubs tend to advance deep into the Conference League so we would have a strong chance of winning the lot.

Man City finish 6th in the League but win the UCL so qualify for the UCL next season.
Man United finish 9th in the League but win the Europa League so qualify for the UCL next season.
Chelsea finish 10th in the League but win the European Conference and so qualify for the Europa League
England have the best UEFA coefficient and qualify for a 5th place UCL spot based on League positions:
Liverpool
Arsenal
Forest
Newcastle
Bournemouth
Due to changes in the rules this season, it's possible for England to have 7 qualifiers for the UCL next season.
Villa finish 7th and qualify for the Europa League.
Liverpool win the FA Cup so the 8th place team qualify for the Europa League say, Fulham.
Liverpool win the League Cup so the 11th place club qualify for the Europa Conference - BHA!

Unlikely but possible - never give up!

I get where people are coming from, but equally, we have qualified for European football ONCE IN OUR ENTIRE HISTORY.

I think it's a bit early in our top flight adventure to be being choosy about WHICH European competition we qualify for.

I also want us to do all 3, so let's tick off the Conference and go have a great time in Armenia and Liechtenstein.

Yes, because we have a wonderful record against so-called "weaker" teams coming to the Amex with a low block. Which could be every Conference League match.

I would suggest that English Premier League standard low block is probably a little harder to break down than Albanian First Division low block and even we might manage a few goals in that competition
