But if he refuses to play Ferguson, for whatever reason, it kind of forces the club’s hand if the player and agent start making waves. Not suggesting this is happening it’s just a thought on what you correctly say. If there was a rift between player and manager it would also explain the Ferguson that we have seen on the pitch this season, maybe.
But then again, he hasn’t looked any more effective for Ireland either.

Who knows. Whilst the club routinely state they don’t comment on transfers, from time to time they do deviate from this. Another example was Billy Gilmour, Barber openly spoke about there being an offer for him. I presumed this was an attempt to alert other clubs and drive the price up.
Didn’t look that great for a large chunk of last season either.

I’d love him to stay and turn into the player we know he CAN be… but no signs I’ve seen over the last 12-18 months have shown me that is going to happen in the near future.
Only the club knows what’s going on with injuries, attitudes, failings out, training etc… if they feel the best course of action is to sell him then I don’t know enough to disagree.
Yes, the club can absolutely get things wrong… Yes, we may go on to to wonder what could have been if he turns into Gykores MKII…
Or he could also spend his life on the bench injured like Ansu Fati…
I think it would be a real shame if we couldn’t/didn’t make it work but only the fullness of time and hindsight will show the reality

He was a teenager/early 20yr old recovering from glandular fever and with two lower limb (foot/ankle) injuries.
for our style of play at the time we needed a striker with energy to spare who could drop deep when needed. You have to be at the top of your game and fitness to do that. It's no surprise he wasn't yet back at that level.
This season is more of the concern due to limited time, more niggling injuries/absence from squads and looking lost when coming on (although I think he did a solid job at West ham in his last game)
He will recover and he will once again hit the form we had for nigh on 10months from jan23 to Oct 23. I only hope it's with us

The glandular fever thing is not fact. It was a rumour started on here.

I was thinking about this this morning. If the club were to bag around £90m for Ferguson and Enciso, they'll see that as good business. Two players who haven't contributed much to this season, both arguably playing on a few good performances or goals. Bloom may see this as good business.
If it means we can keep Baleba and Pedro for another season, then even better. I don't think it's as clear cut as we think. There is a bigger picture

£90m is dreamland and yes the club would probably snap your hands off, £50m more realistic and even then...

i think we send him out on loan, hope that he can try and regain his form because there is a hell of a player in there somewhere.
Problems with injuries and covid have clearly set him back but we'll end up regretting selling him.

Is he another Connolly and not good enough at this level?
Or is he another potential Gyokeres and we're letting that potential walk?
I honestly think its the latter. There's a really good young player in there, who has had his confidence knocked and probably continues to.
If Postecoglu, Potter, Iraola or Alonso think they can get a tune out of him, why doesn't Hurzeler?
Its confidence not ability imho and that's man management.

Indeed, although I can't see how the club gets £90m for that pair without them both excelling on loan for the rest of the season, in which case we'd probably want them back. I'd be amazed if anyone pays more than £30m for Ferguson currently, and Enciso maybe £35m.
Possiby. Is the glandular fever a known fact, or speculation ?

I did read glandular fever on here afterwards. It was also stated by someone I know (the person who told me about Potter and chelsea 2 days before tuchel was sacked) who had some business dealings with ferguson and his agent last Sept that he was still feeling the after effects of a viral illness from a year before and that glandular fever had been mentioned in that conversation too.
So no the club have never said glandular fever specifically (and I wouldn't expect them to given that players with a slight strain are usually never seen for 6 months and only then in a hospital bed or on crutches)
