The Hive bar was very popular over the past few years. Decent beer, in glass, good food and somewhere to sit. All at a good price too.

Then it started to change and they couldn't seem to make their mind up if fans were allowed in or not. They did still let us in after they said they wouldn't, and even added our names to a list for future entry, but seemed to change their mind again. Beer prices jumped up a fair bit too - suspect they went back down on non-match days.

Not sure being in the PL makes much difference - we were selling out to home fans anyway. If most Albion fans didn't even know the bar was there, away fans wouldn't!
Looks like The Hive Bar is opening again on match days - it used to be a good venue back in the day, and cheap too!

Used to go in there quite a bit, luckily we had a kind patron signing us in each week.
Nice and warm, and decent food/drink.

Is that at Sussex Uni or Brighton Uni?
Brighton.

It's just behind the West Stand.

My word, what a bounce. Seven and a bit years later "Junior" is now 18 and swigging booze to mixed effects, Dick's is closed and moving to the concourse, the club are about to open a large onsite bar, The Hive are advertising and The Swan are a bit more lax about away fans for certain games. Any of which would have solved the issue.

Meanwhile I now drink in town....

:lolol:

Following that link seems to suggest it's closed for tomorrow's game at least o_O
Yes.

I gather that the University has pushed back on it unfortunately and not allowed the Union to open
😞

However, it seems that Sussex Union are looking at extra capacity over the road at Falmer Bar at Sussex University so well worth checking that place out if you’ll be looking for an alternative to Dicks.

I wonder what the objection is to making a load of easy money?
