I'd say early 70s glam pop is probably my musical pleasure I feel most apologetic about.
It was OK to enjoy the likes of Slade, Sweet, Suzi Quatro, T Rex and the like, but I'll also quite happily add to those: Pilot, Jigsaw (check out their late 60s/very early 70s psych pop comedy before they hit the charts with Sky high), Hello, Nick Gilder and the like.
Anything with a guitar intro, a stomping beat and a few harmonies ticks boxes for me.

Good to see Aha and Manowar getting the recognition they deserve on this thread, both brilliant acts and there is nothing guilty about the pleasure to be derived from them.

The closest thing to a guilty pleasure I have would be Busted, but sod it I think they are great and have no problem saying so. Was lucky enough to squeeze into the tent at Glastonbury when the shut the Field of Avalon, what a fantastic hour of fun entertainment that was.

Love (the band of that name)

Specifically "Alone Again Or" - a simply wonderful piece of (old hippie) music.

I like most of the bands mentioned…..

The Beatles - greatest band of all time, changed the face of music - brilliant

George Michael - amazing voice, coolness personified in my eyes.

Aha - great, Morten Harkett excellent

McFly - have matured into a good band…..

Guilty pleasure not sure but great band…..

The Mammas and Papas

Cass could sing, as could Michelle Phillips, good song writing as well….
"Cass could sing" - how dare you sir - Cass had the voice of an angel, especially in harmony with Ms Phillips ( but that's probably a whole new thread)

One of the top psychedelic rock bands of their era - influential, respected and had plenty of critical acclaim. Their music has stood the test of time and still sounds fantastic. All pleasure and no guilt to these ears

I think my guilt may stem from the name of the band more than their music :lolol:

  • Frankie Goes to Hollywood - Welcome to the Pleasuredome
  • Flowered Up - Weekender
Nothing guilty pleasure about Weekender IMO. An absolutely fantastic piece of music and very of its time. Rampling used to occasionally drop an absolutely BANGING remix of Welcome to the Pleasuredome at the Zap too.

On topic I've got an "every now and again" Spotify playlist made up purely of cheesy female RnB. Beyonce, Destiny's Child, MC Lyte, M.I.A. and loads more.

Not sure everyone understands the “guilty” bit of “guilty pleasure”.

Personally, I really enjoy the music of Ed Sheeran.

You are found GUILTY!

I see your Ed Sheeran and I raise you with Girls Aloud.

There, I’ve admitted it.
