A guy at work totally isolated himself from news years ago. He didn't even know about the Brexit referendum.

What a blissful life to lead, and one I've seriously contemplated.

I also imagine a world where social media is burned down completely ( social media sites like Facebook, X etc. not message boards like NSC which were around before the term 'social media' ). I think that world is called Elysium.

Am doing the same. I haven;t watched the news all week. Wife and I last time refused to travel to the States on holiday whilst he's in the White House, and we'll do so again.

Or see the humour in his buffoonish incompetency and stupidity - it may be gallows but it really works!

I hated Thatcher with a vengeance but I found her highly amusing and kept the anger and anxiety at a distance by getting great entertaining mileage out of her mannerisms.

He's also effectively said that Trans people no longer exist and allowed 1,500 extremely loyal psychopaths out onto the streets with a clean rap sheet to buy whatever guns they want. Surely you can therefore understand exactly why people are concerned about him?

It was inevitable unfortunately - the premise is people need a coping strategy because Trump is everywhere on the news and despite your best intentions, there will be people posting political opinion in support of Trump ( they wouldn’t get away with that on the Trump thread 😂) Then others will challenging that POV and so on. It was a really good thread question though.

Sadly you can’t put your own thread on ignore ( I often wish we could!)

I recommend in addition to the humour angle I suggested above, a nice glass of wine, feet up and binge watch Amazon or Netflix - I didn’t watch any of the catch up news of the Inauguration when I got home from work yesterday but got through 6 episodes of ’Defending Jacob’ a very enjoyable legal drama on Apple TV. No news all evening. 🙂

You could ask "does it really matter?" about literally any opinion that's given on this board, so I'm not really sure what your point is. I mean he said everything seemed pretty reasonable, so I highlighted a couple of issues that don't seem that way.

Is that OK with you or should I run my queries past you first in future?

Same as in avoiding all news. Having to work hard at it at the moment.

Did he not say he would use economic force to make Canada a US state ? Then there's Greenland. And the chilling statement about expanding America's borders.

Not all wars are fought with guns. As it happens, as I said previously, he may be good for the Ukraine crisis. We'll have to see.

That's not what he said..... He just refused to rule it out. He would never do it in a million years.

The best approach is to load up your investments in the US.

The Trump effect on US markets is already positive, the Vantage US accumulation fund is up over 10% since the election. Even people I know who are anti Trump accept he will turbo charge their economy and that offers attractive investment opportunities.

Invest baby invest…….
