Meh, it'll all be over in 4 years or less* and the adults will take over again and fix the damage.

(my phone autocorrected my swiping to "4 years of lies" )
My worry is that he'll work hard to lock in the swing states and we could see a decade or more of Republican anti-environment, inward looking, MAGA-type lunacy.

Remember there’s absolutely nothing you can do, and ranting constantly online or to friends will just bore everyone to tears and make you even more angry and anxious.

Next time you feel angry about Trump, go for a walk, go to the gym, watch a movie, play a video game - whatever you enjoy - and forget he exists.

Don’t live your life vicariously through the President of another country.

This is very sound advice.

Just avoid American news. If you had a social media blackout and filter on him in his last presidency I'd say you would not have noticed any change in your own personal life.

In the past, we’d have a ten minute segment on the news and you’d read an article in the newspaper and that would be that for the day. You’d digest it, then move on. These days we’re endlessly debating on here, reading stuff on twitter, watching YouTube videos, it’s all encompassing. Perhaps the trick is to limit your time online and do something else when it gets too much. It’s good to be informed but sometimes it can be a little overwhelming.

...is the right answer.

Don't spend all your mental energy and time on a person outside your control. It's not healthy and can lead to issues around self-worth and passivity.

Don't watch the news all day including online updates in the live text, especially at the moment. With all the broadcast media commentators still in Washington, we all know full well what they'll be leading with.

Other than that, probably not starting new threads that brings more attention might help, as would the Ignore Thread option.

One thread is enough. And probably more than enough.

Please excuse me while I do so.

The only thing in Washington I care about right now are the Commanders. Focusing on the Championship game for the next week.

In all seriousness though, right now I am just taking a step away from the news for the good of my mental health. The world is insane right now, and mainstream media does not appear to give a crap, so just for now I am out. I've also deleted twitter from my phone, can't deactivate my account as I have password issues bur removing that from my life has been a positive also.

Totally shut him out of your world. Try to not even know whether he is alive or dead.

- If you are foolish enough still to use X and the like, mute the word "Trump".

- immediately hit the off switch if he is mentioned on the TV or the wireless.

- do not buy newspapers.

- sit back and relax.

If it helps, I think a lot of the crazy outrageous stories are diversions. I think his team produce a lot of extreme inflammatory stories, designed to agitate people like us, because it diverts our attention away from the things he really wants to do. I find that helps me to manage my anger towards him, knowing that its his plan to bait people like us. He wants us to be angry and distracted.

In terms of things like reversing all the diversity and inclusion schemes that I read about this morning. We might not be able to stop him doing that, but we can do something about the world around us. We can be kind and respectful to those in the world around us. We can stand up for those who need it. We can stand in opposition to those views. And if we hear people around us repeating his claims, then we can call them out. He might change the laws in America, but he can't change the views and opinions of people around the world.

Similar, tune out of politics and only be forced to see his ugly orange mug on BBC headlines page...... hopefully we can survive 4 years or his coffin dodging won't last that long.

Trump's re-election is the best thing that has happened in the USA for four years. Possibly also the best thing for the rest of the world. The guy is far from perfect, but just look at the alternatives. When I heard his statement that from now on there are only two genders, male and female, I knew we were on the right track. Those are the words of a man blessed with common sense.
