Elon Musk has many faults and has made many mistakes. The accusation that on the world's biggest stage yesterday he did three Hitler salutes is absurd and cheapens the currency around real fascists and Nazis #ElonMusk

This is from George Galloway and I couldn't agree more

I am still a bit shocked that yesterday I was called a Nazi sympathizer
What did you interpret Musk’s arm gesture as?

Genuine question, I’m not going to mock your answer. I’m curious.

Andrea Stroppa, a confidant of Musk who has connected him with far-right Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, was reported by Italian media to have posted the clip of Musk with the caption: "Roman Empire is back starting from Roman salute".

He later deleted the tweet and posted that "that gesture, which some mistook for a Nazi salute, is simply Elon, who has autism, expressing his feelings by saying, 'I want to give my heart to you'".

"That is exactly what he communicated into the microphone. ELON DISLIKES EXTREMISTS!"

Who to believe? 🤨

Whatever that action was, two things are nailed on:

1) The 'salute' is getting WAY more attention and chat than anything the ACTUAL president did or said

2) It will be long-forgotten soon when someone - probably Trump - does or says some other crazy-ass shit. Which people will then be outraged about, only for it to be forgotten when he does or says some other....

You get the picture. Different presidency, same old shit.

I'm not sure, he's got serious issues but I don't think he was actively thinking "I'm going to do a Nazi salute". He was seriously hyped up and waving around like a loon.

I think everyone needs to take a step back from labelling people Nazi or Nazi sympathisers and have a real think about what the Nazis actually were and what they wanted to do. The worst humanity has ever produced, these new people for all their obvious faults are nowhere close to that.

I think some people on this thread genuinely think Elon musk is a nazi. I wonder what they think he will do to, say , illegals , round them all up in a gas chamber ? Create concentration camps in Wyoming ?

I do think he knew what he was doing when he made those gestures though. And it was distasteful.

I agree with Bernie in his video that we shouldn't allow this nonsense to distract from the things that Trump should be doing for the people of America.

What is he doing while we are all discussing if his mate is a nazi or not.

He's a ****, a very dangerous ****. That's enough for me.

The detainment camps in Texas where children were separated from relatives were pretty grim. Trump tried to blame the Democrats, but he introduced the policy.

Ugh.

Why do these people have such a fascination with telling women what to do with their bodies?
What I find strange is right wing parties, like the Republicans and the Tory party, like to preach freedom and individual rights ....as long as it's their version of freedom and rights.....which is obviously is not being free at all.

Not obvious to me. I have been free to do what I like as long as I stay within the law. Labour have come in and nothing’s changed.

Yet. These new people for all their obvious faults are nowhere close to that, yet.

I understand what you're saying in your post. We can't and shouldn't label anyone and everything as Nazism. But, and please do correct me if I'm wrong (my GCSE History is rusty by now), it's important to remember the Nazi's didn't start out Day 1 by rounding up minorities and ethnic groups and shovelling them into industrial ovens. They got there in the end.

And I'm not suggesting that's necessarily where America is headed based off the actions of one super rich oligarch fucknut.

My personal line of thinking is that, factually, Musk has done something that looks very much like a Nazi salute and it's either because A) he's a Nazi or B) he's dangerously ignorant and both of those reasons should exclude him from being anywhere near the corridors of power.

This.

And while we all discuss what particular kind of fucknut he is we seem to be forgetting that he:
- is the world's richest person.
- Has a track record of posting lies and propaganda on one of the world's biggest social media sites, which he not only owns but also uses to amplify his lies and propaganda by 1000 times.
- He has the ear of the president of the world's most powerful and influential countries, along with the second and third richest billionaires in the US (whose wealth grew by 250 odd billion since Trump was elected in November).

Is he a nazi? I don't f***ing know but I am increasingly convinced that he is both dangerous and holding way too much wealth power and influence. I also see little indication that he wants to do anything good with any of it.

Yeah, I get your point and it is important to keep watch on any extremists.

With regards to the Nazi's, I won't post the link but they did start out with an outrageously anti-semitic amongst other policies as far back as their 25 point programme in 1920 that stated specifically that Jews will not be German citizens.

"as long as I stay within the law" That's my point. Try having a pint at the next Albion game in view of the pitch.....then you will understand what I mean.

He said "free for all"

That means many many people, maybe even 99% feel like you and I do. We are fortunate.

I knew my GCSE History had failed me! Though that could be because we did an entire unit on the American Wild West for some bloody reason.
