[Help] NTFS to FAT32 & playing through a TV.

It's my Mums celebration of life party on Sat & for reasons I can only think of were insane on my behalf, I thought it would be a good idea to not have a DJ.
The reasons were so I could put 5 hours together of music she actually liked rather than some crap from a DJ, in an order that I wanted.

A friend mixed all this together for me which obviously took hours. A slideshow was suggested as well so I asked eldest Jnr if he could do it & turn it all into an MP4, which he has also spent hours doing. It looks & sounds amazing. This was all planned to play through the venues TV which is obviously connected to all their speakers.
However, it's 12gb & to put it onto the USB it had to be formatted to NTFS as none of us realised that you can only transfer 4gb files to a USB. 64gb USB gives you the impression you can put 64gb on it. 🤷‍♀️

It's working on my PC fine from the USB but it didn't work on my neighbours TV (mine's so old that it doesn't have a USB port). Youngest Jnrs laptop is so old that it's on windows 8 & it didn't recognise the USB either (he only uses it for audacity). I don't know if the venues TV supports NTFS, so I'm now beginning to plan for worst case scenario that it doesn't, as I only have a few days to sort it. Jnrs laptop has nothing on it aside from audacity, he doesn't use it for browsing or anything so basically it's safe to fry or go missing.

Am I right in thinking that if Jnrs laptop doesn't recognise the NTFS USB, it's pointless trying to transfer the file from my PC to his laptop via USB to USB cable as it's over 4gb?
I really don't want to have to ask some poor git to have to split the file as that potentially messes up eldest Jnrs pic positioning or my friends track mixing. My friend has spent 12 hours getting it right, eldest Jnr has spent 10 hours getting it right. With listening to tracks & putting them into order, scanning & cropping pics I think I've spent at least 24 hours on it. We've all invested so much time & effort getting it right that the thought of it not being played is a bit heartbreaking.

The only thing I can think of is to buy a 2nd hand laptop that supports NTFS & plug that in (I don't want to borrow anyone's). If there's no jiggery pokery that can work with the USB is that the best option or is something else going to happen that I haven't thought of? It's all so exhausting & I still haven't managed to turn a word document into a pdf file to send to the printers for an 'Order of service' kind of thing & that should've been done yesterday. Hopefully I go there tomorrow & try it, it plays & then I'll only have to worry about stuff I consider small in comparison. I just need a back up plan for if it doesn't.

Copy the contents of the usb to the laptop hd then play direct from laptop to TV via HDMI.

Or upload to YouTube as private and if the TV is smart play from it's YouTube app

Open the word document then select "print", but before you hit "print" you can change the printer in the drop-down to PDF.

But the laptop doesn't recognise the USB, as the USB is in NTFS format not FAT 32. That's the major problem.

copy the data off onto your PC, reformat to USB to FAT32, copy data back. (...re-read and twigged the problem now, scrub that)

if you have any cable to transfer between PC and laptop, no reason that shouldn't work. the data isnt "stuck" in NTFS, thats just how the drive organises it.

FAT32 doesn’t let you save files over 4gb in size and the file he’s talking about is 12gb.

The windows 8 laptop should be able to read the usb drive regardless of it being NTFS or FAT32. So it makes me think that there is another issue. Can you get another laptop and see if works in that.

In theory the windows 8 laptop should be able to save the file from the USB if it can detect it as I’m certain windows 8 needed an NTFS formatted hard drive for installation anyway.

Might be worth trying to format the USB drive as exFAT, obviously make sure the file you want to play is backed up somewhere else.

Or just Save As in Word and change the suffix drop-down from .docx to .PDF.

YouTube is a great idea!! Both Jnrs know how to do that!

I was thinking of that, obviously I couldn't find the USB to USB cable that's been lurking for years (just in case). Will there be any problems with the playback through their tv as it's still a file over 4gb?

I'm sure windows 7 had an NTFS partition. I don't want to borrow anyone else's laptop, just in case.

The file is backed up on 2 pcs as well as the USB stick. It has become almost as valuable as a diamond! :lolol:
Or just Save As in Word and change the suffix drop-down from .docx to .PDF.
I'll try both of them, I'm just going to bombard the printers with files now & my phone number so they can instantly call me and tell me if I've sent them docs that can't be printed. I've given up trying to print a 'background colour' from word, it's all going to be a white background now! ;)
