A few on here should choose drama
As a Brighton fan/resident . . . . In London . . .Drama, Home economics and interpretive flouncing/mincing should be compulsory Shirely?

at the age of 7 the only option most of us had was skateboard or bike, jeans or shorts . .if we were lucky! We didn't have a bloody clue what most of those subjects were, we were too busy playing conkers/marbles/football/off ground had/44 save all/climbing trees

My Year 7 son has been asked to think about his GCSE options.

The choice is so good at his (London) school, I want to go back!

Just for fun (no, really).... knowing what you know now, and with an eye on the future, which FIVE options would YOU choose?

I've excluded English, Mathematics and Science.

EDIT:

It messes up the poll but, for the record, students have to do:

Maths
English
A language (French, German, Latin or Spanish)
Science
History or Geography
And TWO from the list…

So if you picked Latin or Modern Language here, that would be your second/extra language choice.

And History/Geography would be in addition to Geography/History.
Art, Computing, English, History, Latin

Bloody Hell.

So many subjects I did are missing.

For general interest these were my passes (I failed Ffrench.)

Maths
Additional maths
Physics,
Biology
Chemistry
Geography
History
Latin
English literature
English Language
Art

The only one missing is Additional Maths, which probably is offered to kids who are good at it.

See my note added at end of first point. Kids only choose two from the list really.

I don't feel so bad now, mine were English Lang, English Lit, Maths (Trad), Maths (Add), Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Latin and although I did Geography and French they didn't put me in for the exams. Wise decision

Year 7 at school isn’t age 7, no kids aged 7 are choosing these subjects.
I know the school years had different numbers when i and probably you went to school.

I'm keen for him to do computer science so he can learn about algorithms and AI, to make sense of the ever-complex attendance restrictions applied to Brighton & Hove Albion season ticket holders in the year 2036.
I'd be inclined to suggest Comp science too, but so that he could help me with how to use my phone / laptop etc. But my son seems to know everything about that anyway, without having been taught anything. How do teenagers do that!

Ha. This particular son once had a primary school teacher who was basically a better-looking version of Heather Graham. Incredible!
Started unzipping until I discovered I'd skipped reading the word "Heather". 😭

No Philosophy on there ( my subject at uni), I think a few people could do with learning some basic logic.

Very different list from mine; virtually identical to Watford Zero's

History (I found interesting at O level but incredibly boring before then)
