On a slightly different note what does this mean as I would like my wife (MyAlbion+member) to take over my fathers season ticket for the remainder of the season and beyond ? -

Take Over a Season Ticket Holders Seat

Only current MyAlbion+ Members can take over a season ticket holders seat. The season ticket holder giving up their seat must follow the instructions in the ‘Cancellation of Auto-Renewal’ section above and nominate the MyAlbion+ member with their full details in the cancellation process. Seat takeovers can only be applied for if joining a group of known friends/family.

All this "dog ate my homework" stuff...

How would your 20-year-old selfs feel about not getting a season ticket because someone wants it as a trophy and will only attend the odd game when all the stars are aligned perfectly?

"The club wants people to go the games rather than buy into my dozen bad excuses for not going to games! They're evil!"

:tears:
With the progress this club has made in the last 10 years there's probably a million or more people all over the world (such as me) who has "watching Brighton at the Amex" as one of the greatest dreams and plans in their life. Its really provoking reading all the "I want my season ticket but I don't want to use it" bollocks. Seems a good move from the club to get rid of ST holders who always finds some excuse not to go or not make their ticket available to someone else.

Maybe this is me misunderstanding some cultural aspect or whatever but it sounds like people want this to be some American sport where some fat millionaire buys a chair for a 100 years just to pop in twice a year when he feels like it.

I'm starting to feel like I'm in a minority in that I just buy a ST and turn up to most matches
I tend to agree. You buy a ST, and stick to your side of the bargain by going to all/most games.

if you can’t commit to that for whatever reason(s), go on an ad hoc basis.

I think people’s opinions here are slightly at odds with the atmosphere debate. If we want to improve the atmosphere, making sure the seats and as many people as possible are in the stadium.

Just for once I’m inclined to disagree with you Jack. I’d say that more numbers doesn’t necessarily lead to an improved atmosphere. Filling empty seats with arguably less partisan fans can actually stifle the atmosphere. Take Liverpool away this season, or Man City at home during Covid, as examples.

If my life pleasures are winding down, as they do, I wouldn't give up my remaining pleasures because of minor inconvenience to Brighton & Hove Albion. When you get old, or ill, the pleasure remaining to you become more valuable, not less.
I think what @pigmanovich means is that if it became impossible to find the day pleasurable because of the pain and distress associated with getting to and from a game, then.... (you should be able to work out the rest).

We have many ST holders that aren't partisan fans, and many non ST holders that only occasionally attend that are. Not really sure you can argue either way that an ST seat re-sold is going to be any more or any less likely to go to a fan who might add to the atmosphere.

But one thing is for certain, a ticket sold is more likely to have the chance of a partisan fan attending than leaving an empty seat.

Well, that's for the person concerned to decide. My concern is for the people who are still fit enough to find the day pleasurable on some occasions but not fit enough to find it pleasurable on others, so make a game day decision. If they're felling well on a sunny spring day, they go' if they're feeling rotten on a slushy winter day, they don't. Most of us will get to that stage, in time. It's part of the ageing process.

Indeed.

But probably best to not have a season ticket if the decision to go is typically made on the day.

(I think all the whatabouts and whatifs have now been satisfactorily addressed.)

Just been posted on the website - no mention of the current 25% personal attendance requirement so maybe it's been simplified

Utilising your Season Ticket
From 2025/26 we are asking season ticket holders to use their ticket for 75% of matches during the season.
This means you can attend, list for resale, share or upgrade your ticket but you cannot leave your seat empty for five or more matches.
If you do, you may not be able to renew for 2026/27 and we may list your seat on the ticket exchange.
To count towards 75% usage, tickets must be listed on the ticket exchange by 2pm on the day before the match.
Remember, you can share your ticket with a MyAlbion+ member with one free use per season or £20 for unlimited sharing.
By making these changes we will make sure that everyone gets the chance of enjoying the thrill of a Premier League matchday at the Amex.
Wouldnt be surprised if both the 25% personally attending and 75% occupied / exchanged rates both apply next season and the former is in the terms and conditions (will need to see 25/26 when they come out)

Unbelievable but typical of someone who knows precious little

Can I just say that the club cancelling a season ticket for non attendance is probably not the whole story, and maybe we need to have a proper discussion about this.

So that last minute decision could happen 5 times without it being an issue for them. The wording clearly allows the club to have some discretion in this area as it states 'you may not be able to renew your ST' (if you haven't listed your seat for 5 or more games.) So for people with a medical issue I'm pretty sure if reported to the club would be fine.

In truth we have had 4 home league games for the whole of December and January. We have 2 home games in Feb. So they have 5 games they can just not turn up for, then any number they can list by 2pm the day before. Not sure you're creating an issue or scenario that isn't really there?

The flip side is, an elderly fan or one with medical issues that doesn't have an ST, attends on a match by match basis benefits massively from ST holders listing their tickets if at the last minute there are seats available on the day of a game.
