My Dad loved going to the football and went for years with an Albion season ticket. Until he couldn’t. The club couldn’t have been more helpful - calls about switching seats to more accessible areas of the ground, helping with non digital tickets, and support even if he was absent. This new rule tightening is only likely to affect a tiny tiny few and I just can’t see much sign of their desire - despite the fears expressed on here - as a club to help you if you’re old or very ill or your circumstances change and you talk to them about it.

Just list the ticket online, my mate's partner has just had a baby so he's had to list most of his tickets this season, he hasn't got an email or anything. If you have a family emergency 5 times a season, you are very unlucky.

The way PL clubs treat their fans (pricing, concessions, kick offs, season ticket holders, faculties) is justifiably criticised. And the Albion deserve criticism too - above inflation pay rises, reducing concessionary tickets and discounts just announced deserves a lot of scrutiny. As do the process for sanctions if the club think you’ve broken their terms. (Often excessive, not very transparent). But the idea that “all clubs are the same” and the Albion don’t care about their fans or season ticket holders - just ££ - pushed on here doesn’t hold up and worse - undermines attempts to hold them to account.

The price of buying an individual ticket is significantly more than the per game cost of a season ticket. Maybe those paying the higher cost would be more committed to actually going. The club just want as many fans in the stadium as possible. For the vast vast majority of STHs, if they can't make a game, they have two very simple options to allow someone else to attend - and in the case of the Exchange, receive a refund for the game in question less £1.

If anyone has a serious ongoing (health/issue) issue that can affect attendance meaning they would fall foul of the 'rules' ... they should contact the club to discuss.

All we've really heard here is ifs buts and maybes. I haven't seen a post anywhere (I might have missed one, of course) from someone with a serious concern that they have gone to the club about - and how the club responded. I've said elsewhere that I would hope someone with a genuine problem, that the club would be sympathetic. And anyone with a long term problem - that means attendance is going to be an issue season after season after season ... as some others have said, maybe a season ticket isn't the best option.

Indeed. Some season ticket holders still think they're doing the club a massive favour.

As mentioned before, Albion v Arsenal cost me less (pro rata) than a ticket to AFC Wimbledon v Doncaster in L2, recently.

Best to consider it mutually beneficial, I think...

If I read this correctly you should put the ticket back on the exchange to avoid a black mark if you cannot attend. As I am moving to the Isle of Wight next year I do hope this is the case, or I will have a problem.

If you can share your ticket,with supporters who for whatever reason cannot be season ticket holders,at no detriment to yourself,and it benefits the club ,the atmosphere,and yourself then I had no problem with this.

Unfortunately what we are seeing is the price of success, where the club wants to/has to drive up attendance as that drives revenue. How much these moves actually contribute is another matter.

It would be interesting to see stats on how many empty seats there are per game and how many did not go on the exchange. There are clearly some games which won't fill the ground ironically one is Palace. Equally we all know that most London clubs, Newcastle, City , MUFC and Liverpool will fill most vacancies in the home end. So putting more on exchange will only exacerbate the latter problem.

Do clubs publish the % season tickets they have . If we have 26k out of 30K then that seems quite a high proportion.

If I go to a restaurant, order a £70 meal, pay for it and get up without touching it, does the restauranteur care? No. They have my money.

If I buy a ticket for the theatre and on the night of the show, there is a family emergency, or transport issues, or I don't feel well or even I just cant be arsed to go. Does the theatre care? No, they have my money.

If I buy a ticket for a one-off game at the Amex and on the day of the game, there is a family emergency, or transport issues, or I don't feel well or even I just cant be arsed to go. Does the club care? No, they have my money.

It's just the STs, where there is a discount for effectively bulk buying, that the club are kicking back against. Fewer STHs = more one-off game tickets available to be sold at higher prices. This business model works well all the time you are selling every seat for every game............

you can list a ticket on the exchange anytime, whether the club opens the exchange to sell them is a different matter, but you will have complied by listing the ticket-its not dependant on the ticket exchange opening for sales, or if your ticket sells or not

I have to say I'm pleased that the club has laid out the changes to the T&C's very clearly.

So long as I know the price for a ticket, the obligations and rights I will have as a STH and the penalties the club can impose for any breach of those obligations I can make an informed choice.

Where the club would appear to have gone wrong this season,(IMO), is changing the T&C's mid-season without warning. i.e. listing STH's ticket on the exchange without their consent.

On a slightly different note what does this mean as I would like my wife (MyAlbion+member) to take over my fathers season ticket for the remainder of the season and beyond ? -

Only current MyAlbion+ Members can take over a season ticket holders seat. The season ticket holder giving up their seat must follow the instructions in the ‘Cancellation of Auto-Renewal’ section above and nominate the MyAlbion+ member with their full details in the cancellation process. Seat takeovers can only be applied for if joining a group of known friends/family.
