Worthing
They’ve been here before in my lifetime. They struggled in the post-Busby ere as they are now post-Fergy.
Their problem is that when players sign for them, they think they’ve made it already and don’t seek to improve themselves. They end up with a bunch of could-have-beens who think they’re the best players already. It’s a self- fulfilling spiral downwards until they hit the buffers or get lucky and find another Fergy. Who knows how long that will take? For the time being, I’m just enjoying their misery.

Dressing room culture plays a bigger part than the culture the manager wants to bring in. Uniteds experienced players are a mix of nerve wrecks and saturated players and they will spread that all over the squad. Neither Ruben Amorim or Erik ten Hag or even Alex Ferguson (who would have been sacked at the very latest in 89 by todays standards) can change a rotten dressing room culture without removing the key pieces of it.

As long as they have players like Shaw, Maguire, Lindelöf-Nilsson and others who will only play well if their contracts are running out or something, I just can't see any manager being able to turn it around. They need a real clear out if they want to go anywhere.

I see Ratcliffe has waved his magic sporting wand on our Americas Cup team and is doing to them what he did to Sky Cycling and is now doing to Utd!!!
