[Help] Tattoos

Thinking of getting a new tattoo, and really like Japanese art style (specifically kanji).

I have a good idea of what I want, but before I go ahead and get something permanently inked onto my body that means something completely different to what I think (and google translate tells me) it says, I would appreciate the help of any Japanese speakers or natives to confirm it for me.

My idea is this : 自分の限界を超えて , which should translate to Push past your limits.

Help is greatly appreciated :mitoma:

One question though. If you can push past it, is it your limits?

That's the point of the quote, people always give up without knowing their true limits. Quite appropriate as a Brighton fan no? We've been told about a glass ceiling being our limit, and yet we pushed past that (or in our case smashed through that).

Cool idea, but get this triple checked by different native Japanese speakers.

The Japanese as you likely know traditionally look very poorly on tattoos as they are associated with the Yakuza - but make sure to ask native speakers rather than people who speak as a second language, as they’re more likely to know if there are any accidental double meanings or if it sounds ridiculous to a native

Unless you're living in Japan or have Japanese mates/family, does it matter what 自分の限界を超えて means in English? :)

And remember that the Japanese are very polite, and if it says 'Push down my knickers' they may be too polite to tell you.

Google lens translate says it reads "I'm a twat" so be careful





It actually translates on google to "Beyond your limits" but that's just what google says
