Wonder which one would be the biggest counting TV viewers? I'm thinking probably not today as a lot of global United fans aren't that interested unless they win, which they generally don't.

Great question.

I wonder if it is one of the Europa League games. If it is, it's likely to be one of the R16 ties v Roma.

It's more likely to be some random Premier League tie that went straight over our heads - possibly a first/last game of the season fixture against one of the big 4, or one where they could become champions.

Oooh, I like that stat. I wonder what the smallest attendance would be, outside of wartime.

Probably an FA Cup match. 1983 final, or the last semi-final.

Apparently the Premier League AVERAGES around 600 million global viewers per match, compared to the FA Cup which is about 500 million for a final.

I would particularly disregard the 1983 final, as 1) global viewership was considerably lower, 2) the interest in English football was lower and 3) the global population was lower.

Nah. Europa League viewership is low. Pretty sure it must be a win against a top team from England.

No chance its a game from the 80s when neither Americans or Asians could give less of a shit about football. Must be something quite recent.... and also a won game.

I think today's match set a new record attendance in a match that Albion won - 73,758

The previous record was also at Old Trafford, on August 7 2022 when Albion beat United 2-1 (73,711).

Thanks Man Utd!

Surely you meant to title this thread “RIP previous record attendance in a match that Albion won”

Unfortunately Manchester Utd are also responsible for the record attendance in a match that we lost.
