As it should be.

All they need to do now is sort out how insurance works in this country, and how the bandits have no accountability, and we can all go on with our lives.

I can't believe that one of our resident comedians hasn't yet stated an oh so funny 'RIP plastic driving licence' thread. Glad to have helped.

Will defo prevent forgetting to take it abroad and avoiding car hire problems.

And instead welcome to phone battery dead/phone stolen/no signal/app issue problems. No solution will ever be 100% foolproof.

Strange - I'd have thought you'd have had to change it when you turned 70.

It's supposed to work in conjunction with plastic driving licences. What should happen is everyone who still only has a paper licence should be forced to have a plastic one!

At what point will the government realise that not everyone has a smart phone.
They say that they will still run with plastic/paper but for how long ?
A pal of mine has only just bought a mobile phone which he keeps in a drawer and checks a couple of times a week; he's had a work phone for a while but leaves that in his desk.
