Just to be clear - Elon Musk is not a rocket engineer. He neither came up with the concept, design or manufacturing processes for this system.

Neither is he a car designer, or a satellite communications expert.

He's a money man and a hype man. He's very good at both of these.

p.s. he's South African by birth, but presumably now a naturalised US citizen.
He also manages to take ground breaking companies and get shit done in a way and for a cost that almost all his competition struggle to emulate. Being a pioneering leader isn't about having technical knowledge of how to build a rocket ship or a car its creating to the environment for people who do have those skills to succeed.

I'm not too keen on Musk getting involved with politics, especially ours or any country he was not born in (is he American by birth?).
But you've got to hand it to this guy, sending huge rockets up and then landing them either on a floating platform or, in this case, back where it took off into a scaffold tower that catches it, just wow.
I'm not sure how much he, personally, was involved in the science, engineering and development of the whole operation, but I take your point.

Even if he merely spaffed some of his $400bn wealth at it.

Edit: sorry, I realise the same point has been made 400bn times already.

No. His father was born in the Afrikaaner heartland of Pretoria and his mother was born in Canada so, unless Trump invades Canada or changes the constitution, he cannot become President and will have to rule as King by proxy through Trump.
Maybe that's what was behind his suggestion the other week?

Twats.

For example when he took over Twitter he told the engineers to cancel their hot hot back up data centres and not to worry about resilience or safety. They explained why it's a bad idea. Anyway he immediately ended the ethics and safety sub committee. On his next visit to the city where the back up data centres were he took a team of engineers, forced his was in and got them to cut the wires.

Sounds like someone who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. Just the kind of person who should be in charge of a major aspect of national security

Can someone clarify to me what the point of these billionaires sending rockets into Space is, other than a massive ego trip boost?

I confess to not having paid much attention, so maybe there is a valid reason

I will not believe it’s the first step in man colonising Space btw

“Rapid unscheduled disassembly” sounds like what happened to our defence against Everton a few years back

Are any of his parents born in the US? This would allow him to run.
Nope. His mother is Canadian and his father is a Saffer.

That’s why he can only buy political power in the US!

He is also a shouty man on the internet. If the media stopped reporting in him he would be a nobody. Albeit a rich one

I've worked for a variety of corporates with differing cultures. You can still "get shit done" and be successful the right way without being a toxic c*** and he's definitely one of those.

True. Same with kitchens, you don’t have to be an alpha-male twat to have success.

They get paid by the US government and telcos to launch satellites into Space. I think SpaceX is also getting paid to make trips to the International Space Station.

I love space expeditions and want them to do well but in this case …(I’m assuming no one was hurt)

West is BEST
Nerds and freaks and their PTSD from being bullied at school will destroy the human race.

Need rage is powerful.

Remember that kid at school who was teased and teased and teased and teased until one day he exploded with the strength of ten men?

That’s these guys, all grown up. With billions of dollars.

The idiots won.
