I'm not too keen on Musk getting involved with politics, especially ours or any country he was not born in (is he American by birth?).
But you've got to hand it to this guy, sending huge rockets up and then landing them either on a floating platform or, in this case, back where it took off into a scaffold tower that catches it, just wow.

He managed to land this one over quite a large area including property on the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Just to be clear - Elon Musk is not a rocket engineer. He neither came up with the concept, design or manufacturing processes for this system.

Neither is he a car designer, or a satellite communications expert.

He's a money man and a hype man. He's very good at both of these.

p.s. he's South African by birth, but presumably now a naturalised US citizen.

That really is very impressive. I‘d imagine though, that Musk’s personal contribution to their genius, is merely an unlimited pot of inherited money.

He was born and brought up in apartheid South Africa. Fairly obvious from his political views.
He left South Africa to avoid national service and went to the US on a student visa but never left when the visa expired. He is, or was, an illegal immigrant in the US. He got US citizenship in 2002.
I know I shouldn't really but I felt a smidgeon of happiness when I sW that the rocket had blown up.

He’s South African by birth. That’s why he can’t run for President in the US.

Tbf to the fascist, he comes from a wealthy family but made his vast wealth through his own business activities:-
He moved to California in 1995 to attend Stanford University but never enrolled in classes, and with his brother Kimbal co-founded the online city guide software company Zip2. The startup was acquired by Compaq for $307 million in 1999.
That same year, Musk co-founded X.com, a direct bank. X.com merged with Confinity in 2000 to form PayPal. In 2002, Musk acquired United States citizenship, and that October eBay acquired PayPal for $1.5 billion. Using $100 million of the money he made from the sale of PayPal, Musk founded SpaceX, a spaceflight services company, in 2002.

If you consider how many risk taking 'entrepreneurs' there are in the world. statistically it is a certainty that one will have the luck to keep doubling his money at every turn.
That lucky man becomes world famous of course.

However, luck can run out.

So when the opportunity arises you would be foolish to not rig the game if you can.
The greatest game rig of all time was when a hit and miss risk taker succeeded in avoiding prosecution by becoming president.

Musk can't copy Trump, but he can do the next best thing, and align himself with the men of power.
In the longer term he probably figures he needs to rig the game in other ways to protect himself.

Albeit US politicians already seem too afraid of him to step in his way.

Interesting times ahead.

"Interesting" is certainly one description. I am quite fearful of the carnage that Trump, Musk and Vance will/may cause over the next 4 years. Apart from the economic and political fallout, he has threatened to have his political enemies executed for treason and he may be sociopathic and unstable enough to try and go through with it.
Edit: Musk has already, on fascist twitter, called Alex Vindman a traitor and called for his execution.

A shame. What I like about Canada is that it’s like the US but without Americans.
