Ipswich really is a great away - hadn't been since the 3-2 in 2015 but had a great evening. Easy train from Liverpool Street, a proper, imposing ground right outside the station, decent pubs and very sound locals.

Great noise from us all game. Glad we scored when we did, the atmosphere wasn't 'turning' but there were increasing chants for players on the bench (Solly, Georgino & Enciso) and a bit of frustration with Hürz

I thought FH was very wise to set-up with 3 central midfielders in the first half with the emphasis on control and not conceding a break away goal.

It was clear to see that he’d realised that if we were to win the match, it would be in the 2nd half when the Ipswich block was tiring and less disciplined with their attacking players thinking they could get something out of the game and not tracking back as much as they did in the first half.
Agreed. 1st half was very much around trying to control possession and then unleash the subs when Ipswich tired. It worked.

Every Ipswich fan I spoke to today were grand, both pre and post match. A great bunch on the whole and a world away from the majority of other Prem sides in recent years…
Yes but that`s not what i said was it , i was referring to their sites not the fans at the game !

Well I loved the overall experience.
Great old ground with an excellent view(from VU3 anyway).

Town centre location, close to station, lots of pubs. After the match I had a pint in one of the pubs and ended up chatting with an Ipswich fan while we watched Utd wriggle out of an embarrassing result.

Then went onto Distilled Rebublik as recommended by our Ipswich visitor to NSC this week - thanks again. We agreed they(Ipswich) werevery poor tonight - he thinks it’s between them and Wolves to join Leicester and Saints. I hope they stay up as it’s a great away trip.

My first live win for ages! Makes the journey back SO much better

Now back at Stansted for flight back before regrouping for Sunday.
Had a lovely chat with an Albion fan in pub before the game - the first I’ve ever met who admits to being on NSC!
I was genuinely ‘so excited’!
It's a top away day. Friend who lives in Ipswich took me on a pub crawl before the game - Steamboat Inn, Arcade Tavern, the Woolpack, Fat Cat and the Dove. All great.

Also, as you say, nice and close to the station. Although the first post-match train was busy, could get on the platform easily enough without queuing. What a contrast to Falmer.

I think my takeaway from last night is that I think Fab will have an idea of his best side from available players. I reckon the side vs United will be

Bart
Veltman JPVH dunk Pervis
Ayari Baleba
Rutter Pedro Mitoma
Welbeck
I agree but think a lot depends on condition/fitness. He also might want to give March, Minteh and possibly McConville some minutes off the bench too depending on match progression.

I know some people think FH was being ‘tactical’ last night by keeping Welbeck, Minteh, Dunk and Georginio on the bench for the first half. If our strongest players were in peak condition and not at risk of further injury/fatigue, I think for a game we absolutely had to take 3 points from (for so many reasons) Hürzeler would have had them on for 90 mins not 45.

I honestly don’t believe Hürzeler intended us to just play pass the parcel in the MF or hoof it in the first half in the hope our opponents would tire with the intention of then bringing on our stronger players - I may be wrong but what from what I know of FH, that’s just not his MO.

He constantly talks about playing with intensity and press for 90 mins - that’s nothing like the first half I witnessed last night. I saw a few youngsters getting match time and some stronger players on the bench because they have had injuries in the past few weeks.

Couldn’t believe what I was seeing yesterday: a team even we could beat for pace  I realize it was Hutchinson’s first game following an injury but still, none of his runs worried me.

Hoofs and giving us the ball back. Woeful stuff.

Well, when we are forever in their shadow, that's as good as it gets.

If all we can come up with is 'you're just a shit Norwich City'
we're bound to get that retort.

you heard it on tv, but in my general niceness, I thought he was calling him a cheat.
I also heard and it thought he said cheat but after reading the above and haven’t the luxury of a reply can only conclude if the Ipswich fan isn’t racist he’s a f***ing idiot!

He carved through our midfield in the first half - didn’t get past Webby, VH and Velts though.

I'd still take Delap. Strikes me as one of those fairly effective players that everyone hates unless he's playing for you

He gets away with pushing and knocking into people, but is he actually any good?

We won a match! Excellent. Away too. But more than anything…against a bottom 3 side!!!!!!!!

They weren't a bottom 3 side when we played them. The curse remains.

Edit - I see that as usual, my dull observation was made much earlier
