I have a long day of travel so to pass the time I thought I would rank our draws this season. I know it’s dull but it amazes me how the same result (and in many cases scoreline) can elicit such different emotions.

This seasons draws ranked from best to worst;

1. Villa 2-2 - after last season and the run we were on I was sure this was a looming defeat especially when we went behind.
2. Arsenal 1-1 (a) - nearly made top spot but niggling feeling we could have won.
3. Arsenal 1-1 (h) - on a poor run and a goal down, a point versus title contenders was a good result.
4. Forest 2-2 - felt like a bad result at the time but seeing what they have achieved since and the fact we fell behind means it has aged well.
5. West Ham 1-1 - yes we should have won but off the back of Palace defeat an away point was most welcome.
6. Ipswich 0-0 - we played well and dominated and it kept the unbeaten start going. Felt like a very small blip.
7. Southampton 1-1, yes we threw away a lead but we could and but for VAR should have lost. In the end we didn’t deserve more.
8. Brentford 0-0. A very poor performance where we didn’t deserve more.
9. Wolves 2-2. Any other season this would be bottom of the list but Wolves did at least play well second half and our second goal was against the run of play.
10. Leicester 2-2. Appalling, two points absolutely thrown away. I may never get over it!

Do people agree/disagree?!

I would put the Southampton draw at the bottom. We would have moved to second place had we won that and it was the start of the major drop of form. We should be where Nottm Forest are now, if we hadn't had that slump in form. Hopefully, we are turning the corner again now. A win at Old Trafford would be very welcome.

The bottom two of those are definitely the most painful, as they felt the most self-inflicted and avoidable by applying even the most basic of game management strategies.

We actually did move up to second (albeit it only for a day) but I know what you mean. To be a goal up at HT against that lot and not win started a much bigger slide in form.

It’s really hard not looking at the table and not mentally adding on four points. Will drive me mad!
