Saw the shapeshifting Floating Points perform his current album last night. The album is an hour long but with various interludes and noodling it was stretched out to 90 minutes……as a mate said, it was an absolute masterclass in live techno. There were a number of “moments” but Birth4000 was particular highlight; everyone was giving it full beans for this track. The were live visuals by the person in the video below.

Right, now to catch up on the football……

Saw Space yesterday at The Arch and they bashed out all the hits with aplomb...

Tuesday visited Chalk to see Embrace who were as excellent as ever...

Anyone else seen two rhyming acts ? 10 points more if seen consecutively like yours truly

Gonna see the superb Shannon and the Clams in Islington on the 5th.

Saturday night Leonards legends Thee Headshrinkers are supporting the Surfragettes at somewhere called Dust in Brighton. Absolutely hardcore garage.

I am going to see Shannon and the Clams tonight in a pub in Geelong. Thanks for this heads up, I saw they were playing and gave them a listen. I like them a lot and am looking forward to seeing them live.

Just bought some tickets to see Jeffrey Lewis for the umpteenth time....always highly entertaining. Interstingly, he has 3 ticket price: unwaged, regular and solidarity. These are 16, 20 and 24 respectively. For every solidarity ticket sold, a ticket at the unwaged price is made available. I have come across small gigs where there's an on-the-door minimum and a 'pay what you can' price, and unwaged tickets at a reduced price. But never something like this before. I support it.

I know this wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea (and I guess it's very age-dependent) but I spent a great day at the Let's Rock one day 'festival' in 2019.

Most bands just did their 6 biggest hits, but that's what we wanted to hear! There was very little dead time between acts. It was really well organised and the bars/food outlets had virtually no queues.

So in the one day, for £35, I saw:

STATUS QUO (who did well over an hour as the headline act).
JIMMY SOMERVILLE (boy, he's got some energy!)
TONY HADLEY
MIDGE URE
GO WEST
NICK HEYWARD
NIK KERSHAW
HEAVEN 17
THE REAL THING
BETTY BOO
CHINA CRISIS
SONIA
BROTHER BEYOND
BELOUIS SOME
OWEN PAUL
JENNIE "BELLE STAR" MATTHIAS
MUSICAL YOUTH
WESTWORLD
BLACK LACE'S CONGA PARTY (just a fill-in while Jimmy Somerville's band was setting up).
