No, he has bench first.
Illegal!

If I'm not misinformed, Lewis Dunk has the all time record in the quite specific category of "PL appearances without ever coming on as a sub".

Not a holy record likely to last... but throwing it away on a cameo against Southampton? I vote no.

I didn't know of that record but it does sound right, unfortunately Southgate all but reversed that record for Dunky England career.

Okay, dunk should have a word with the gaffer, " give me another week".

available again - a big positive. but maybe not so positive as far as ipswich is concerned. we have all remembered that he has a customary horror show every time he returns from injury. and especially against a big, powerful centre forward like delap…

Depending on his fitness, I think I'd prefer Dunk and JP, but unless he's 100% I'd want JP and Webster in and save him for the next match

Oh yea of litte faith. Men against boys and all that. I wouldn't want you two in the trenches with me.
Considering Dunk has been getting slower over the season and was knocked off the ball by Saka earlier this season I think you might be the only one on this board "looking forward" to that battle.

It now seems that Dunk has joined Webster in having 'horror shows' on returning from injury. As Igor is out for the rest of the season, perhaps JPvH can join in and then we'll have a clean sweep.
No horror show from Webbo when he came on v Arsenal, he played very well, but I laughed at your post anyway.
I suppose Dunky will come in for Webbo, but I’m not convinced it is the right thing to do. It didn’t work out all that well when Igor was dropped for the skipper last time.

Ridiculous hysteria as usual on this thread, by the usual bunch of wet old women.

If Webby plays he won't let us down. If Dunky comes back he won't let us down. That's not to say they will win every battle in the air or on the floor. That's because it's the premier league. It's f***ing tough. Opposition strikers are bloody good. Some battles we'll lose. That's normal in this league.

I'd edge slightly to Dunky depending on fitness, but have no problem if we go the other way. These are two players who have performed for us for over a number of years. They have done easily enough to earn our confidence.

My entire post was ironic.
I'm a big fan of Webster, but there's a trope on here that it takes him five or six games on coming back from injury to get up to speed -- which is usually the point when he gets injured again, according to that same trope. The other trope on here is that we should 'get rid', because he's not up to it.

no However considering how keen manager was to get him on against Southampton when defence was doing well sure he will play

I know. I am also a fan and can remember him playing in the same team as my lad many years ago. He provided the corner for my lad to score his first ever headed goal, when they were about 9 years old!😀

Spot on. Expect Dunk to start with Webster to come on for him in the second half. I’m happy with that.

Delay eyeing up Dunk on his comeback game knowing he’s usually terrible when he first comes back from injury

Need to think of the next two games in combination. I’d start with Webster against Ipswich and give Dunk 15 or so minutes, probably to replace Van Hecke. Then I’d start Dunk against Man Utd.

Incidentally we’ll also need some rotation at FB. Hoping that Hinshelwood will be ready to play a part in that.
