Very sad news. A hugely respected local journalist. In the days of modern rag writing the loss of someone like him makes anyone wistful. I know the words 'A proper...' are overused. But not in his case. RIP and thank you.

Very sad news. A name that will always be synonymous with The Argus.
Whilst I know I read 100's of his columns, if I remember correctly, I didn't always agree with him.
I think it was the same with me. In fact I found some of his views irritating. But what I liked about him was his considered tone when he wrote. He would write about local issues and get you thinking about it. It made him very memorable and folk very conscious of what was happening in their patch. So he was a quality addition to something we lament the passing of in any quality- local reporting.

Same here. Makes a good journalist I guess.
Had 100% respect for him since getting an allotment near his 24 years ago.
He struggled around for at least the last 5 years and never gave up the fight. He took the challenge of walking whilst impaired as he did the challenge of cycling to isle of Wight and back when younger

Very sad.

Having been so involved in politics for nearly two decades in the 1980-90s, I frequently cross paths with Adam. He was one of my favourite Brighton journalists - so knowledgeable too, especially on the environment- genuinely a nice guy.

I used to see him out and about a lot usually cycling along on his bike, long before his illness, in the 80s and 90s. Then I didn't see him for a while and the next time I saw him the Parkinsons had obviously taken hold. I last saw him about four weeks ago walking up West Way near the Grenadier in Hove, and he looked in a particularly bad way. It was really sad to see. RIP AT

As many have said, excellent local journalist and incredibly brave man who fought his illness to the end. RIP Adam, the Sage of Sussex.

Good post.

I would add too, having been at the receiving end of his political interviews a few times in my early days in the Green Party and then the Labour Party, Adam had great integrity and was highly respected by those he interviewed - what was off the record stayed off the record and local politicians generally trusted him not to misrepresent them.
