I assume he means 'at least Dick Turpin wore a mask'. Real this time or brinkmanship with Hearn, given Sky reported Wembley was being booked for AJ / Fury?

Real hopefully, and I also hope that with the guidance of Mrs Fury and the more sensible people around him he becomes a champion in the fight against mental illness on all levels?

Re AJ I'm not sure there's the public appetite for it, Joshua's punch resistance has gone, the 24 round schooling by Usyk and the emphatic defeat by Dubois made it clearly apparent, so therefore any fight with Fury would either be over fairly quickly or a contrived 12 round 'exhibition', would fight fans pay big bucks for that?

I don't think so.

Was he the greatest British heavyweight of all time?

Difficult one, these boxers across the decades debates throw up some interesting discussions but I don't think he beats Lennox Lewis at his best.

I wonder what he'd have done against the likes of Cooper, Bugner and Bruno?

Here we go again.

It’s a shame he never fought AJ; at least we’d know who the best British heavyweight of this (maybe it’s that) era is/was. All things now considered, looking at résumés, I’d go with AJ, but a head-2-head would have meant we’d know more about these two….. but sadly it will now remain a discussion for the pub.

As for being a champion of mental health, it was only a few weeks ago he was aggressively and repeatedly calling Usyk a poof. Hopefully Tyson and John will go away and remain quiet, I think this is best for everyone.

As an aside, I’ve previously questioned his professionalism. He seemingly came out of his last camp fatter than when he went in :shrug:

Think he would of beat Cooper, Bugner and Bruno but not a chance he would beat Lewis. When you look back who has Fury actually beat

Francis Ngannou - A one fight novice knocks down Tyson and takes him 12 rounds, widely agreed Tyson lost
Derek Chisora - washed up version
Dillian Whyte - washed up version
Otto Wallin - a nobody at the time who took him 12 rounds. Even Joshua wiped him out in a few rounds
Deontay Wilder - 3 epic fights
Francesco Pianeta - Bin man
Sefer Seferi - Bin man
Wladimir Klitschko - Beat him in one of the most boring heavyweight title fights of all time. Tyson landed only 86 of 371 shots thrown and then hugged him for the rest of the fight.

I don't think he beats Lewis at Lewis's worst.

If that is really it I find it quite sad. Love him or hate him things were never dull around him and he gave us some really entertaining fights. It's also really sad that the AJ fight hasnt happened. Yes its past its sell by date but would still be good entertainment and Id have really liked to see Fury put AJ down.

Don’t think he called usyk that at all

Been good value fury. Great for British boxing

As mentioned above . The Joshua fight is decent still but a routine win for fury

This “retirement” is Tyson’s way of saying “give me more money to fight Joshua”.
He will probably get it too, from the Saudis.
And people will watch that fight, eventhough there will be nothing at stake and they‘re both on the slide.

Indeed.

His heart is in the right place.
The brain he was born with needs frequent servicing, but is that not also true for most of us?

At the end of the day, choices are available for him.
Let's hope he makes some good ones because he is, in modern parlance, an influencer. Scope and reach.

That's getting pretty tedious now fella.

TF was a wonderful character. A top boxing showman and great fun. Not quite the role model I would like to see, but his humour and honesty served him well.

He'd have made a good rugby player.

Where do you draw the line with wonderful characters? He is a drugs cheat and has a history of homophobic and sexist abuse.
