Well that's the most obtuse comment of the day.

VAR has been great this season, compared to previous seasons. It is MORE Fun that the correct decisions are made. When bad refereeing decisions affect results, it takes the fun out of the game, as it is unjust.

I think the point you are making - is that it is FUN in a world without VAR when poor refereeing decisions work in our favour.... but it works both ways, surely. If poor refereeing decisions cost us, then that would not be fun.

Besides - March was clearly onside wasn't he??
Better, but still sucks the absolute lifeblood out of watching a game live. I am so ****ing glad the best moment of the season so far wasn’t subject to any of that crap.

Absolutely. It’s simply more fun isn’t it. VAR has been scrubbing off great moments for too long. Never forgiven that absolutely belter by Ali Mac being killed by the school master behind his laptop.
I think the point was his goal would have (of) been scrubbed off. The reality is that VAR works in our favour across the piece, and 'phew' today was simply a short term self-interest comment.

Amazing how people can look at the same thing and see something completely different

(and it is good that there is my perspective, and your perspective, and turbulence, and in the end we make progress  )

Do you not accept that we don’t know for certain whether he was or wasn’t? With all due respect I don’t need an American to explain the laws of football to me either

I think you have decided he wasn’t and that’s it in your mind.

Why the f*** am I arguing about this, the goal was given and every Albion fan was delighted
Not sure what my nationality has to to with it.

He either was or he wasn't. There is no uncertainty in it. Just because you or I or anyone else does not know does not mean it is uncertain. It happened and he either was or was not.

You are right in that being offside is binary. You either are or are not offside. However the officials are simply fallible human beings who do not always get these decisions correct so I think our friend was suggesting 4 out of 5 linesmen would have flagged him offside.

There you go, you are both correct, go back to being happy about Solly, so good they named him twice, March.

As for why an American should not be attempting to explain the rules of the game to anyone, this is based on the fact that you need to have been born in England (ideally Sussex) to correctly interpret the laws of the game. Something to do with ley lines I believe. This is just science, sorry. :jester:

If only they'd done some consultation - and used some common sense! Yes, VAR to correct howlers - to spot those things that the ref has missed or got completely wrong, that the whole stadium can see except the ref; that would have been good - and I don't think anybody really wanted to stop the game for minutes to decide whether player X was a centimetre on or off side. After all, if Solly was an inch or two (and that's all he possibly was) ahead of the Norwich player, that Norwich player was 20 yards away from him anyway, so no advantage gained from those two inches.
And why, oh why did the people in charge of implementing VAR think it was necessary to draw up a complex and unnecessary list of what could and what could not be considered by VAR? Stupid, counter productive and unnecessary, but I suppose they felt it validated their self-importance.

All those suggesting Solly was offside are blasphemers. He is clearly looking along the line and probably gave DW a shout to leave it too.
He did. He spoke to Brian Owen, the real Andy Naylor and me after the game. All will be revealed in the Argus and on the club website tomorrow.

I think Georginho is off for the first one too.

And if we'd been playing against Man U, the ref would have (incorrectly) given a foul against Enciso before his goal.

These marginal decisions can make a big difference.

Checks laws of assosiation football manual....

ONSIDE !!

I came to the same conclusion, although it's difficult to draw the line that matters with certainty because of the camera angle.
