We are forced to vote in Australia, doesn't feel right to me.. Although I understand the benefits it feels undemocratic to be forced to participate in democracy.Forcing people to vote?

I think we should try blind voting. Pick the policies that you would like to see implemented and that is matched to the parties manifesto and your vote cast accordningly. So democracy for only the well-informed enough to vote for the correct choice?
There are some websites which do this, the results can be surprising.I think we should try blind voting. Pick the policies that you would like to see implemented and that is matched to the parties manifesto and your vote cast accordningly.
**disclaimer** this is a partially tounge in cheek comment as I understand the pitfalls and limitations of this idea. Although I do like the idea of taking away the spin and personality cults involved in politics.
Forced to turn up to vote, not actually vote.We are forced to vote in Australia, doesn't feel right to me.. Although I understand the benefits it feels undemocratic to be forced to participate in democracy.
Yeah I have seen those, people always seem to be more left than you'd expect. Although this may be to do with the algorithms used to make the decision. There are some websites which do this, the results can be surprising.

No. Which is why at the moment everyone has the right to vote. Democracy should not be built on a complete lottery. Do you honestly think that people who don’t currently vote will appreciate being forced to?So democracy for only the well-informed enough to vote for the correct choice?
Pretty much, might be $50 now.Forced to turn up to vote, not actually vote.
A spoilt paper counts as a vote in Australia ?
And if you don't vote (and they bother to come after you) you get fined 20 dollars.
Correct me if anything of the above isn't true.
I'm with you, forcing people to vote in a democracy is silly.

Less people should be allowed to vote. If you voted for Brexit, ukup, reform or any reality TV show you should not be allowed to vote for 5 years.No. Which is why at the moment everyone has the right to vote. Democracy should not be built on a complete lottery. Do you honestly think that people who don’t currently vote will appreciate being forced to?
It strikes me as a little ironic that you imply that it is more democratic to force people who do not currently choose to vote that they must vote. What about the right to choose? Isnt forcing people to do something the opposite of democracy?
All I'll say is that Faridge doesn't deserve the quality of discussion this thread has turned into.No. Which is why at the moment everyone has the right to vote. Where were you when they needed youI came out with Volt UK as my recommended party with 81% - and I’ve never heard of them. SNP second, Tories a distant third.
Had to Google them, and apparently they’re a Pro EU protest party who put out two candidates last year, not coming close to a seat
Fascinating - and pretty accurate I would say. Better than some of those I've tried.I came out with Volt UK as my recommended party with 81% - and I’ve never heard of them. SNP second, Tories a distant third.

I’ll be getting messed up on UltraJet with Nick Valentine in Diamond City.My ideology would be hanging around the bar in Goodsprings trying to get it on with the hot bird with the dog.
and stay friends with Doc Mitchell and the woman who runs the bar.
And Dynamite Pete.
