[Football] The big London clubs

Unlike most of the other London clubs*, there's not much to like about the biggest four - they are absolute twats.

Personally, I hate Chelsea the most and always have done long before they funded our stadium. A fan base made up of horrible racist trash and pompous up their own arse posh types from leafy Surrey and Berkshire. Then there was 1984, then Cucurella, Sanchez etc. nothing to like at all. Horrific club, I hope they go bust.

Arsenal and Tottenham get on my tits. Entitled wankers in their support, most of whom aren't from anywhere near north London. And obviously Arteta and Trossard are pricks, and Spurs always have their fair share of bellends on the playing/management staff and that's when they're not complete shite. Also amusing how Spurs fans try to take the piss out of Arsenal, when they're always on a completely different level on the pitch.

Then you've got West Ham who are every bit as irritating. From Nolan's wank chicken celebration and needless goading, to Mark Noble's bleating in the standard that they "should be beating teams like Brighton" every time we spanked them out of sight. A section of gobby violent types and another section who STILL spout bollocks about winning the World Cup in 1966 and "the West Ham way" that seems to ignore 20 years of attritional shite because their impatient fans won't tolerate any manager taking time to build an attractive team. West Ham fans are the thickest fans in the league IMO.

For the record, most of the others I don't mind at all. I've always quite liked Fulham, Charlton and Brentford to be fair. QPR I am ambivalent to. Same goes for Millwall despite sometimes wondering if some of their fans are actually human, and I even don't mind Orient these days.

Does anyone here not mind any of the big 4 London clubs, or do most think like me on this one?

* The Nigels are Surrey, not proper London as everyone knows, so can't be considered a likeable London club. Or even a London club. Or even likeable.

Given we have some of our fan base booing our team in the top half of the PL, I’d say we have our fair share of entitled fans tbh. Not sure we’d be giving Post as much patience as Spurs fans are giving him.
It is to their credit that Spurs fans are giving him time, as we did with Potter. Although I think the difference is that Spurs blame everything on Levy, so to an extent that takes the pressure off the manager (unless the team is awful to watch)

And actually Spurs are the least obnoxious of the 4 clubs IMO.

I would largely agree apart from the Croydon in Surrey bit , for 1 Crystal Palace play in South Norwood and 2 the district of Croydon is in Greater London and has been since 1965 ( 60 years ) it’s like saying Falmer is in Lewes.

Obviously I have a duty to belittle Palace wherever possible, but nice that we agree on everything else. The truth is, I like our rivalry and have many Palace mates (because I'm just about in your territory), and there are clubs I dislike more even if I really can't stand losing to your lot
I'm a bit disappointed that you didn't get to mention Portsmouth in your summary, despite it's location.
Ah yes, case in point. If Portsmouth were in London there would be no need for this thread at all. Portsmouth would obviously be miles bigger than the others (their fans will tell you they already are) so it would just be a Portsmouth FC thread. Only Chelsea could rival them for utter twattery.

Yes I know, we have had this discussion before.
I would say I am like you in Brighton / Palace land and have many Brighton mates. But no Chelsea mates funny enough 😁

Surely this isn't true though. You are trying to compare a historic county, Surrey, to a London borough. Croydon and South Norwood are both part of the historic county of Surrey and still are.

Good summary. I find Spurs inoffensive, bless them.
Chelsea are loathsome. I like your summary of their fan base -- racists and posh ones -- although I normally characterise them as a revolting blend of old money and new money (I bet that vile Christmas tree of a specimen that owns Pimlico Plummers supports them).

I take slight issue with this. Yes: the racists. Yes, the posh ones. But you also forgot the ten million or so of armchair overseas fans whose ability to locate Stamford Bridge on a map of London is even worse than Cucurella's and whose entire Twitter history consists of the posts "small club", "relegate now", "give us xxx player" and "we are cooking".

They've always been a nasty club, with a disproportionate quota of deeply unlikeable players long before they signed most of ours (John Terry, Diego Costa, Jody Morris, Dennis Wise, Frank Lebeouf etc). Also- and I appreciate this may be controversial- they worship Madness, and the sight of a bunch of overweight sixty something Burberry-clad pretend Headhunters swaggering theatrically around a stadium concourse while thrusting their pints in the air and shouting out the talky bit from the start of One Step Beyond is tragic beyond words. In my personal opinion, of course :)

My Mum from Streatham and my dad from Penge would agree with you if they were alive, but, Croydon became a London borough in 1965, and most Croydon records are held by the Croydon Local Studies Library and Archives. In 1965 more of Surrey was lost to London, with the creation of the London boroughs of Kingston, Merton, Richmond, Sutton and an expanded Croydon.

Bet there's not a day goes by without the head of Surrey County Council sighing wistfully "I really wish we'd held on to Croydon".

I see you Croydon, and raise you Gatwick Airport.

Is Brentford part of London these days?
