'Lights out' (the track) was a floor-filler at The Hungry Years - couldn't move for air-guitars and head-banging
Aah. The Hungry Years. I remember it so well from the mid-1970s. I've still got my Afghan coat and cheesecloth shirt in the loft.

Loved the album Phenomenon. particularly Crystal Light and Rock Bottom. Classics of the time.

One of the regulars was such a devoted Status Quo fan, he changed his name by deed poll to Francis Rossi :lolol:

Then there was Janine (?) whose wardrobe only seemed to consist of black stockings, suspenders, and a small basque

Saw them in Southampton - February 1980. I was more into The Jam and The Clash, but a school friend of mine was into guitar based bands and I loved going to gigs and so went with him to see a number of bands I probably wouldn't have if it was just up to me. We saw Blue Oyster Cult, Black Sabbath, Hawklords, Rory Gallagher, Whitesnake and Wishbone Ash as well as UFO and probably some others that I've forgotten - all around 1978/80.

UFO was probably the best of the bunch for me. I bought Obsession at the time as well as Strangers in the Night - which as @Herr Tubthumper said, is one of the best live albums going ... certainly in my book anyway.

The only disappointment for my mate was not seeing Michael Schenker as he left the band a year or two beforehand.

I remember the Quo guy very well. Also Lloydy and Stu the DJs. Met my first wife at the Years so it holds very special memories for me.

I too live and breathe all things Maiden.
Saw UFO in the early 80s and 'doctor doctor' live was a true thing of beauty.
As was going to see Judas Priest in Southampton who were supported by a band hardly anyone had heard of but emptied the bar and still remain the only support act I've ever seen get 4 encores. The magnificent Paul Dianno and MAIDEN punk:
You clearly never saw my band, with me singing it :lolol:

Saw UFO supporting Deep Purple at Knebworth and they were great. Doctor Doctor and Lights Out are brilliant tracks.

Speaking of UFOs, the Rezillos are playing Ropetackle in March. I never got round to seeing them so I'm hoping to go. Need to check whether Faye Fife is still with them (as she went all "country" for a while and that I do not need!)

I have a ticket . . . FF is indeed still there. Apparently they were greast last time they played here.

Decided to dig out some old UFO albums. I know they had a lot of success, but they didnt really get the full credit they deserved did they?

So many classic albums, currently listening to The Wild, The Willing and The Innocent. Arguably one of the finest live albums in Strangers in the Night.

Happy Fridat everyone.
Great band saw them in 1979/80. As you say along with Budgie very underrated.

That was a blast, listened to some Saxon and 13th Floor Elevators as well as 4 UFO albums. This, and a big pot of coffee, got me through Day 2 of work.
