Well, pretty much as expected, December took its toll on my November weight loss. I started December at 14st 2lb, and briefly got down to 13st 13lb, before slowly putting a few pounds back on the lead up to the festivities. We had Christmas away, with family, where too much food, chocolate and alcohol was consumed and my weight crept back up to 14st 11lb - granted still a long way from the end of August starting point of 16st 9lb.

As of this morning, January 1st, I weighed in at 14st 6lb - so will need to get below the 14st mark to meet the current target - going to be tough, as I have my 65th coming up in less that 3 weeks, and we are going away for a few days to celebrate... let's see how it goes!

I'm much the same as Bedsex...( different weights ). I think I went from 82.6 kgs just before Xmas up to 84.1 kgs this morning.

I did expect this but do feel a tad disappointed. Am off back home immediately after the Arsenal game, so it could/should be easier for me then, away from the thousands of temptations here... ( Tesco Express just to name one ! ).

The plus side is I started at (?) 89.9 kgs 1st November and I am still merely 'overweight' rather than 'obese' which shook me at the time.

Good luck to everyone. The highs and lows are ahead. Let's get started..!!

PS: Just looked at my 'steps' numbers for the last 7 days.....pathetic ! No wonder there is a hollow shape on my sofa.

For me, it's about sustainable change. It sounds to me like you're starting to do that. Great effort. And share anything that's working please.

I'm in, currently sitting at 206.5 which is 10 pounds more than 2019, the 2020 Covid stress/food free for all added weight that I never lost. Time to get rid of it. Got some exercise bands for Christmas, maybe I'll figure out how to use them.
Wrap them round the fridge, secure with a padlock and throw away the key.

Something we did last year that worked for us, we are gathering up unopened treats that we don't really need (we have waaaaay too much chocolate gifted to us) and we give it to a local volunteer run charity (animal shelter in our case), the office staff loved getting treats last year so they're getting them again this year. They eat them - we don't, a win for us.

Neither here nor there
Just tipped 16 stone on the scales yesterday morning. Feel confident of making a serious dent in that this month with no alcohol and chocolate and a return to daily exercising. Just need to find some healthier lunch options, as I usually struggle a bit with that, due to lack of time to prepare something nutritious, healthy and filling in the mornings, and a lack of decent options near where I work.

A little bit about how I'm approaching this. Once again, I'm going for the keto approach and will try and limit my net carb intake to around 35g a day. To achieve ketosis, it's important to consume sufficient fat calories. Too much protein can stop you going into a ketosis state.

I'll be fasting for approximately 16 hours a day - and will have my first meal around 11am. This will be either egg based or a shake/smoothie. I've been using this ALL-IN-ONE MEAL from Vivo Life for the last couple of years. I use a scoop of the vanilla powder and add some ice, non-sweetened almond milk, tablespoon of peanut butter, a teaspoon of cacao powder and sometimes top it up with some kefir. I appreciate this won't be many people's cup of tea - but I love it - and it keeps me full until dinner time.

This evening, I'm having 20% beef mince, with some chopped up courgette, green pepper, red chilli pepper, mushroom and some seasoning. Veg all cooked off in a tablespoon of olive oil. I'll top it off with some full fat 15% Greek yoghurt. I've made enough for two meals so will have it again in a couple of days or so.

I had a little snack earlier - Mrs Tips mixed together some grated cheddar, parmesan and mozzarella and put a spoonful of the mixture on a baking tray and cooked them in the oven ... making a nice strong cheesy flavoured crisp. Delicious and perfect for keto.

I use the Nutracheck app to log everything. Net carbs today are looking like 35.2g - so spot on. And I'm 108 calories within my daily allowance (y)

No alcohol, chocolate, biscuits or cake ... which had crept back in during December.

Well that's Day One done
