Part of an amazing, unprecedented era. I was too young so missed out, but fantastic stories from my older brother.

Sorry for your loss. Spiritual leaders can sometimes be hard to replace.

I‘m really gutted about this. We were friends on the Brighton music scene and Hanover pubs about 25 years ago - my circle of friends at the time.An absolute shadow of his former self in recent years but a huge inspiration to me & others when I was a teenager. Used to bring his dear Mum into the London Unity in Islingword Road and sit at the bar when I was working.
Loyal Albion fan.

Just heard this tragic and sad news within the last 20 minutes. The Piranhas were a big part of the late 70s Vault scene with Peter and the Test Tube Babies and others. I knew he'd been in poor health recently but neverless the news is still numbing. R.I.P. 'Boring' Bob Grover.
This is very upsetting indeed.
I first met Bob in 2009, the later years of his life. I played music with him on many occasions and enjoyed his company. He had a lot of wisdom and was a very kind man. I’ve known this was coming for quite some time but it doesn’t lessen the sadness.

Really sad to hear this.
Loved the 'Brighton scene' and the Attrix/Vaultage Records bands of the early '80s - The Piranhas, The Chefs, The Objeks, Birds With Ears, The Dodgems, and Reward System.
These bands, and venues like The Alhambra, and Brighton Art College/Basement, were an important part of my youth/student days.

Very sad. The Piranhas played a big part in my musical upbringing and were one of the first bands I got into when I was finding my own musical identity.

Ditto - So many from that era now gone. Ian Smith, ( Birds with Ears) a very dear friend of mine - gone far too soon.

Was in the Wine Lodge on Worthing Seafront in 1987, when the ‘turn’ came on for the night, he started singing, then it suddenly dawned on us who it was, Bob Grover, the bloke from the Piranhas, who’d sung Tom Hark on TOTP.
Chatted to him at the break, and we had a beer with him, top bloke.
I wonder what he actually made of his brief flirtation with fame?

Feel very sad and numb about this. Never had the pleasure of meeting Bob but had hoped to do so in the near future.
Their first album was magnificent and I was so proud when they (as a Brighton band) made it.

Birds With Ears were my favourite Brighton band; Ian was such a brilliant front-man - one look at him, and you thought "Yup, Art College student"! I still play their only album, Youth In Asia, today.Ditto - So many from that era now gone. Ian Smith, ( Birds with Ears) a very dear friend of mine - gone far too soon.
An old school friend of mine, Stu Jones, managed them for a while, and also worked in the Attrix record Shop in Sydney Street.
Mate, do us a favour and keep your quirky "humour" for threads that aren't about the personal grief and memories of a lot of NSC users. Cheers.
