An absolute shadow of his former self in recent years but a huge inspiration to me & others when I was a teenager. Sunday night at the Alhambra was our church
Very sad

I‘m really gutted about this. We were friends on the Brighton music scene and Hanover pubs about 25 years ago - my circle of friends at the time.An absolute shadow of his former self in recent years but a huge inspiration to me & others when I was a teenager. Ditto - So many from that era now gone. Ian Smith, ( Birds with Ears) a very dear friend of mine - gone far too soon.Really sad to hear this.
Loved the 'Brighton scene' and the Attrix/Vaultage Records bands of the early '80s - The Piranhas, The Chefs, The Objeks, Birds With Ears, The Dodgems, and Reward System.
These bands, and venues like The Alhambra, and Brighton Art College/Basement, were an important part of my youth/student days.
Birds With Ears were my favourite Brighton band; Ian was such a brilliant front-man - one look at him, and you thought "Yup, Art College student"! I still play their only album, Youth In Asia, today.Ditto - So many from that era now gone. Ian Smith, ( Birds with Ears) a very dear friend of mine - gone far too soon.
Mate, do us a favour and keep your quirky "humour" for threads that aren't about the personal grief and memories of a lot of NSC users. Cheers.Idea for a new podcast. Rock Dies!
