Stayed last year in St Julian area Great Bus services and cheap, water taxis as well are worthwhile to travel to/from the '3 cities' and longer destinations, use GB plug sockets and drive on the right!

Great Restaurants to eat out etc. Very historical as well, plenty of culture to explore.

Fellow (half) Malteser here, here's a quick rundown of resorts. I go every year to see relatives, but...

Bugibba - Maltese Benidorm - cheap and cheerful

St Julians - Maltese Ibiza (well the area called Paceville, Spinola Bay is more quieter

Sliema - Good location, albeit busy, lots of shops/restaurants and ferry to Valletta 10 minutes away.

Gozo - Like "old" Malta before the construction boom, slower way of life, nicer scenery. However some people find it limited.

Mellieha - Nice town in North of Island, good for beaches but bit of a trek to anywhere else on Island.

Valletta - Beautiful Historic city, its changed over the years and has loads of restaurants and bars. I spent a day here a few weeks ago and got pretty wasted going around all the craft beer places.

Any questions feel free to ask. If you are staying in Sliema/St Julians/Valletta you can probably get away without hiring a car. Parking is a nightmare in those areas and the bus service is good in this part of the island.

In my experience they drive in the shade! Very exciting!

We stayed at the Radisson in St Julians last September. Nice quiet location but only a ten minute walk into the busier part of town and there was a bus stop nearby.

Definitely no longer in the target market for the Paceville area but it only takes a few minutes to walk through and some great places to eat all across the town.

Bus service out to Valetta was okay as we were near the start of the route but the bus was full before it left the other side of St Julians. On the way back, it was so busy we jumped out part way and got an Uber - they are very cheap and plentiful in that part of the island.

If you like Sport and you like Clives may I suggest the Sporting Clive bar in Valletta, a homage to the greatest sporting Clives of all time.

I suspect that this is now called The Pub and was where Oliver Reed died.
Have spoken about this before but have never found Sporting Cive bar there are old photos but nothing new.

Bang! And the dirt is gone.
My brother and wife own an apartment in St Paul’s - inherited from my SIL’s dad a couple f years ago when he sadly passed away. We’ve stayed in it once … a decent apartment, but not the best of locations for us. Fortunately there’s a decent bus service which we used every day.

We are heading back to Malta in October for a few days for the Birgufest light festIval - staying in Birgu itself.
What did you say to your wife when she told you that she would be sharing an apartment with your brother?
