[Albion] Parking space to avoid near stadium

Stitched up by JustPark on Friday and have realised how rigged their review process is. Tight turnaround for us before and after so paid £20 for a space at 4 Shortgate Road in Moulescoomb. Arrived to find scaffolding all over the front of the house, making it impossible to park. The space owner's mobile number didn't work. Had to tear off to use Park and Ride at the Racecourse which, thankfully, got us there just in time but was a ballache afterwards.

I can see the same shyster has got it booked out for Arsenal next weekend so someone else will get stitched. There is also a review mentioning the scaffolding from the day after the Southampton game, and another unhappy customer.

Justpark's stock response when this happens is to cancel the booking and refund via a credit to be used within 6 months, which obviously I won't be accepting. Have had the same argument once before and got the money back. More importantly, by cancelling the booking (which had already started in our case), they remove the customer's ability to review the parking place so twats like this have a string of good reviews and no comeback.

Feck me just looked up that address on Google maps. Looks a rough as arse estate and wouldn't risk leaving a half decent car there!

Nowhere near as bad as the 70s and 80s, many houses are now let out to students.
In the late 70s the house number would have been painted on the wall in gloss, and there would have been some car being modified for banger racing in the front garden.

It's fine usually. Have frequently left my car at other addresses in the area.

Interesting - hadn’t thought about how negative reviews might not appear. I use JustPark for away games all the time and have never had an issue (Even on Holmesdale Road 🤣). I do sometimes have a quick squint on Streetview before I book though.

Ha; my Sunday morning paper round, between 1970-73, included Shortgate Rd and there was a house that had a car being modified for banger racing on the route (can't remember if it was actually in Shortgate Rd though). It was the arse-end of Moulsecoomb though and was grateful that it was early Sunday morning, wouldn't have fancied an evening run

I can’t remember what app it was but my mate drove us to the Fulham game in the Championship on New Year’s Day where Dunk got the winner and prebooked a space in a car park. When we got there it hadn’t been open for about a year. Not sure if he ever got his money back.

I've slated JustPark on Trustpilot, as it's the only way to get the negativity across. Clearly more interested in gearing the system to maintain their 'stock' of parking spaces rather than protect the people paying for them. They couldn't contact the space owner either - but I'm amazed to see his listing is still active.

Good idea. I’ve had a couple of odd spaces - in one case the house looked genuinely abandoned when I arrived. I’d tried to contact the owner (to change the timing) but no response……..still worked out okay though.

I booked a space in Cardiff once where on arrival the space “owner” said I could either park on his drive or he would move his car from the street and I could park in the space he had left!!

Bear in mind it’s not uncommon for people to list spaces on other people’s property as well!

Speaking of Shortgate Gardens, I very nearly worked for Welcome Finance in this area and was told not only would I be underwriting personal loans face to face in peoples homes I’d also be responsible personally for in person debt collection as well, f*** that

JustPark have now agreed to refund the money in 5-10 working days. ChatGPT tells me that, in the circumstances, they have to do this anyway under UK consumer law so I'm not particularly grateful. More peed off that a proper refund isn't offered from the start. Have asked them to remove the listing to stop others getting stitched up, so will see if that has any effect.

Now if only Eastbourne Borough climbed up the league ladder I could have a nice little earner!

Sorry to hear about your experience. Sounds like JustPark are gaming it. So frustrating you can’t just speak to someone to sort it out.

Growing up in that area at that time it’s not a bad description, you’d certainly not struggle with on street parking though. In Birdham Road in the summer evenings we’d often have a full size football match as there were only about four cars parked in the whole street.
